Recently a judge in the United States gave a convicted sex offender (who is an American citizen and works in the US) the choice of serving time in the U.S. or living at home in Canada with his wife and three daughters. Of course there was a national outcry on part of the Canadians who absolutely did not want this "person" in our country and the Provincial and Federal government both want to boot him.

Canadian immigration arrested him as soon as he was across the border but let him go under the condition that he stays in his town with his wife and daughters.

My question is, where does this judge get off giving an American pervert the choice of going to jail or coming to my country and posing a threat to my people? Wouldn't there be an American whining outcry like there usually is? How would you all feel if the tables were turned?

If a minor teenager takes a gun from his parents home that the father had not locked up securely and commits a murder, can the father be held partially responsible for this crime? It seems that the charge cannot be "accessory before the fact" since the father did not know anything about the crime. But most states have a so-called (CAP) law, (a child access prevention law) This law requires adults to use a gun-locking device or store guns in a place that is not readily accessible to minors.

See this link: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/1998/schools/gun.control/

The father claims to have hidden the key to his bedroom, where the handgun was kept. But the handgun did not have a trigger-lock and it wasn't in a vault or safe. The minor son knew where the key was; he unlocked the door and took the gun and killed someone. Can the father be held liable, and is it up to the prosecuting attorney to make this decision? Thanks for your help, Joe Conrad

What do you think of women using PMS as a reason for their criminal behavior? They sometimes have reduced sentences because of it. Honest opinions please. Don't be afraid to say what's on your mind.

LOOK AT THE WORDS OF PEGGY NOONAN!:

"Two weeks ago, from a Bush appointee: "I hope they lose the House." And one week ago, from a veteran of two GOP White Houses: "I hope they lose Congress."

"What is behind this? A lot of things, but here's a central one: They want to fire Congress because they can't fire President Bush.

"Republican political veterans go easy on ideology, but they're tough on incompetence. They see Mr. Bush as careless, and on more than Iraq--careless with old alliances, disrespectful of the opinion of mankind. "He never listens," an elected official who is a Bush supporter said with a shrug some months ago. Along the way the president's men and women confused the necessary and legitimate disciplining of a coalition with weird and excessive attempts to silence Republican critics."

What excuse will Yahoo Republicans use now?

Ottawa has ruled out amnesty for the estimated 200,000 undocumented workers toiling in Canada's underground economy, saying it would not be fair to those who have applied legally and are waiting in line, according to a letter obtained by The Globe and Mail.

Allowing illegal workers to stay would likely “encourage more illegal immigration,” noted Linda Arseneau of Citizenship and Immigration Canada's ministerial enquiries division in an Oct. 18 letter to the Universal Workers Union.

“Even a small increase in the number who decide to come here and stay here illegally based on the hope of regularization would simply recreate the very problem the proposal is supposed to fix,” the letter says.

The decision is a bitter disappointment to Portuguese and Hispanic groups, home-builder associations and unions in Ontario that have lobbied CIC to allow undocumented workers in the construction industry to regularize their status.
The Canadian government is enforcing its immigration laws. There goes the American Open Borders Lobby's excuse its too hard to enforce our own immigration laws.

I am 17 years old and ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to enlist in the military. I took the ASVAB (i think that's what it's called) and passed it. I want to be a CRNA but I need a lot of money for college, lets face it I have nothing. If I join in the military they could help me with the money and I'll serve my country. I don't know into what branch I want to go in, either the navy, army or air force. The Air Force really gets my attention but i don't know. I would like to hear what you guys think. Oh, and my bf is in marine boot camp right now. I don't know what he'll say. Please help me.

Firstly, I know I'll get a lot of thumbs down on this... but it needs to be said.

Isn't the word "terrorist" just I way of taking away someones humanity and rendering their grievances meaningless? I mean, how do you define the difference between a terrorist and a freedom-fighter? Was the French resistance in world war two a terrorist orginization because they resisted the Nazis, killed innocent civillians, and blew stuff up? So basically what I'm asking is, if a resistor is muslim does that make him a terrorist? And if someone is classified as a terrorist, why should negotiation not be considered?

I now I'm going to get a lot of, "You liberals support terrorists" on this question, and that will only show that many people don't have any answers...

In a fair (based on their honestly and behavior) and just- equal punishment that is suitable for the crimes committed- what should be the consequence for those who broke our laws.
