If we hear on Monday that barrels of oil are more expensive, by Tuesday morning I'm paying more at the pump.

On the other hand, if the price of cotton goes up I don't suddenly pay more for boxers at Target.

How can this be justified? The gas that was already sitting in the big tank at the Chevron didn't cost anybody any more-- it's the crude stuff that's being imported in the barrels, which should take some time to make it to the Chevron.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A senior U.S. diplomat said the United States had shown "arrogance" and "stupidity" in Iraq but was now ready to talk with any group except Al-Qaida in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America's war in Iraq.

"We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq," he said

"Abu Mohammed", a pseudonym for the man, appeared to set near impossible conditions for the start of any talks with the Americans, including the return to service of Saddam's armed forces, the annulment of every law adopted since Saddam's ouster, the recognition of insurgent groups as the sole representatives of the Iraqi people

What is your opinion on children protective service? Do they really try to break up a happy family just because the family flouted some obscure laws written by people who sits around a table and discuss what should the law be?

Sceduled to start tomorrow, 21 Oct. on national news networks the commercial stars Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahiri while their mouths move you will hear a clock ticking in the background.

Printed quotes from the last several years will display with parts of them lingering on the screen. Pretty scary!

Then there will be some footage of terrorists training (which was obtained with your tax dollars). Then the ticking clock becomes a heart beating. The only voice-over will be the Republican National Committee admitting blame for the ad.

So I'm pretty excited to see this one, how about you? Nice that Osama agreed to do a commercial for George, isn't it? And here I've been hating the twerp.

The amount of harm cigarettes causes is horrific and very little good comes out of it... I know people say it calms them down but really there are other ways to relax. A lot of teenagers and young adults who start don't understand how addictive of asubstance it is. On top of it all everyone around them has to deal with the effects of second hand smoke - its pretty important. Lung disease is the third leading cause of death among Canadians --- Maybe putting a ban on it would help. starting off with light rules and eventually making them more strict with time.

It is probably the least known, least discussed, has the fewest Supreme Court cases referring to it and potentially is the most important amendment for this country in this new century.

Ok, this has been lingering in my mind since President Bush tried to reform social security last year. It sounded such a good idea privitizing especially for people in my age group, what with the baby boomers and all putting a strain on the system.

Ok so here's the thing every two weeks, the federal goverment takes a nice slice off my paycheck off to the Dept. of Treasury so our old folks can sleep easy at night, but is it true that the our social security system will be bankrupt by the time I turn 70? In other words, if our social security system is left unchanged will I ever see a cent of the SS taxes that I have paid through out my working life?!

The police car in this certain event, floored his car to catch up with me, tailgated me for a bit, but didn't put his lights on, I pulled onto my side street, and he kept going straight. I wasn't racing anyone either, it was just me.

Are cigarette smoker's rights protected by the 9th amendment? People were smoking cigarettes before the constitution was written, before the bill of rights was written. There has never been a constitution smoking ban. So... shouldn't tobacco smoking be protected under the 9th amendment?

The US Army Intelligence Field Manual on Intelligence Interrogation states:

[T]he use of force is a poor technique, as it yields unreliable results, may damage subsequent collection efforts, and can induce the source to say whatever he thinks the interrogator wants to hear.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/intell/library/policy/army/fm/fm34-52/chapter1.htm

Why risk the obvious political damage for something that America’s own intelligence experts say is worthless? And, why continue trying to defend and justify it when the whole world knows that such arguments are intellectually dishonest?
