Middle of the road politicians don't get great support from their parties. No money make for much harder win!

If you get involved with local politics, you might find people running as third parties (Green, Independence, etc) Those are the candidates that have the potentail to be successful. Third parties can get someone elected to city council or even Governor, but not to national offices.

because we are a two party republic. Any politician on either side who espouses a middle of the road platform is only after your vote, not the middle of the road policy's he pretends to profess. Democrats are Democrats, republicans are Republicans. The vote their party and there source of power, not their conscious.!

There are some middle of the road politicians in Congress. They are a small minority, but they are there.

But one reason why there are so few of them is because, like Margaret Thatcher once said, "People who stand in the middle of the road tend to get knocked down by the traffic coming in both directions."
