If the car spun any it can be considered careless and reckless.Otherwise no you can accelerate to the speed limit however you choose. however traffic laws vary from city to city you'd really need to speak with someone local to get an accurate answer. But if the cop was going to give you a ticket he would have pulled you over. 99.9% chance that you won't get a ticket in the mail.

Yes, you can get pulled over for that. The police officer may have been running your tag number through the dispatch computer system to see if you had any prior traffic violations or if the car was registered to someone with an outstanding warrant. They do that. Lucky for you, you came up clean. Don't worry, if he copied your plate number the only way he could find out who you are is to run it through the state computer system and there would be a record of his having done so.

He could have done it just to scare you. He could have copied your plate down and you could get a ticket in the mail...There are tons of possibilities. The real question is why you would do something like that infront of a cop! You can get pulled over to answer that question because I'm sure there would be some justifiable reason.

If you squeal your tires yes, if it's raining/snowing and you spin and fishtale yes... If not probs won't get pulled over for accelerating. And the police officer was probably running your plate and your criminal history. You probaby have nothing on your record, therefore he didn't want to waste his time stopping you and letting you go with a warning, he probably wanted to find a real criminal... Although there are always the b&ner cops who make the rest of us look bad that would have given you a ticket just because he could.

Yes, you could get pulled over for reckless driving. They as police, can do just about anything short of harassing to motorists. And if and when you go to traffic court, the owness is on you to prove you did no wrong, typically the courts go qith the cops' word.

Here are the possibilities
Unlawful display of speed
Reckless driving
Driving too fast for conditions
Failure to maintain the flow of traffic
He can write you a ticket any time. They can actually mail you a ticket if they choose. Traffic citations are the ONLY court situation where GUILT is assumed and not innocense.

If you "floored it", that's a good case for reckless driving.
While the officer was behind you, he was running your tag, either through his in-car computer, or by radio.
It probably came back as valid, with no alerts against it, so he decided you weren't worth the paperwork, and gave up on you.
Think yourself lucky he wasn't in a bad mood.

Oh yeah, My officers would run plates all the time... to the point of excess sometimes. They were usually looking for something, If you had a warrant or were driving under suspension, this "reckless act" would have given the officer probable cause to pull you over and arrest you.

It may not be illegal to floor it at a green, but it isn't very smart. What if a guy on the intersecting street ran his red light???
Drive defensively... not offensively. ;-)
