U.S. Population Will Reach 300 Million This Week
Population in the United States will reach the 300 million mark this week while future projections put the United States at the half-billion mark by 2050. Eighty percent of the nation's population growth is due to immigration. If the Senate's guest worker amnesty were implemented, the country could reach a billion people by the end of this century.

New Poll Shows Immigration as a Key Issue in Contested Races
A new poll finds intense concern over immigration in several tight congressional races. Some of these tough races include races in Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio. Of likely voters nationally, 53 percent said that immigration was either their most important issue or one of their top three issues. When asked about voting for candidates that would increase immigration, 70 percent said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who wanted to double legal immigration. The Senate guest worker amnesty passed in May would more than double legal immigration into the U.S. Forty-four percent of those questioned want enforcement that causes illegal aliens to go home with 20 percent favoring large-scale deportations and 31 percent supporting amnesty for illegal aliens. Also, three out of four voters in the nation agreed that illegal immigration is caused by "grossly inadequate" enforcement efforts, not because of overly restrictive legal immigration policies.

(AP) The U.S. trade deficit soared to an all-time high of $725.8 billion in 2005, pushed upward by record imports of oil, food, cars and other consumer goods. The deficit with China hit an all-time high as did America's deficits with Japan, Europe, OPEC, Canada, Mexico and South and Central America. The Commerce Department reported Friday that the gap between what America sells abroad and what it imports rose to $725.8 billion last year, up by 17.5 percent from the previous record of $617.6 billion set in 2004. It marked the fourth consecutive year that America's trade deficit has set a record and was certain to spark increased debate in Congress over President Bush's trade policies. Since mid-2000 the country has lost nearly 3 million manufacturing jobs and Democrats blame the administration's policy of emphasizing free trade agreements. Last year's deficit reflected the fact that imports rose by 12.9 percent last year to an all-time high of $2 trillion, swamping a 5.7 percent incre

This made me think....my neighbors son was sent home with a letter telling of the swat he recieved from school. The Principal called and got permission first. But when (johnny ) got home his mother spanked him...and he called his friend and , his friends told him to call the cops. Now I mind you this mother is 4'10 inches...98 lbs...her son is 5'7 167...she hit him in the legs with her hands. she said dhe hit him twice...she knows he not that he is becoming big and was kinda afraid he would fight back someday ...so she doesn't hit him hard. Well she was arrested because he showed them that his leg was red.
My question is...why can someone else hit your child...with permission or not...but you can;t. I reallt believe a parent has some ind of rights. I know...i know ...some people take it to far...and yes those should be punished...but comeone....where do the line cross...when it comes to how you disapline your children...

I went to a mortage broker to get a refinance home loan. He spent hours on getting me a good deal. I signed a bunch of paper with him, but I never finalize the deal. However, I found a much better deal with someone else. I finalized and closed my deal with the new broker. Now, the first broker wants $500 for his time working on my loan and wasting his time. He said that if I don't pay him, he'll put a lien on my house. Should i just pay him?

Also Assume this:
(I don't have and don't know what I signed)
Even if I signed a contract to agree to pay him $500, aren't there any protection under California law (DRE) for the barrowers?

page 115-126

I'm not a lawyer and these law books are hard to understand
Thanks for any help

Sure it was Cortez who influenced the natives. But ultimately it was the natives who brought down the oppressive Aztec society. Cortez just provided them leadership and courage to take down the barbaric Aztecs.

I think people like to blame Cortez because he got rich from it. But getting rich from war is a tradition as old as war itself.

AP
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Upset by the war in Iraq, Julia Wilson vented her frustrations with President Bush last spring on her Web page on MySpace.com.

She posted a picture of the president, scrawled “Kill Bush” across the top and drew a dagger stabbing his outstretched hand. She later replaced her page on the social-networking site after learning in her eighth-grade history class that such threats are a federal offense.
It was too late.

Federal authorities had found the page and placed Wilson on their checklist. They finally reached her this week in her molecular biology class.

The 14-year-old freshman was taken out of class Wednesday and questioned for about 15 minutes by two Secret Service agents. The incident has upset her parents, who said the agents should have included them when they questioned their daughter.
Wilson said the agents threatened her by saying she could be sent to juvenile hall for making the threat.

Is The U.S. standard of living that illegal aliens find so desirable are high only because of the laws that they circumvented? It’s time for the U.S. government to uphold our immigration laws. It’s time for Americans to stop taking our blessings for granted. And it’s time for those who desire to be American citizens to get back in line so the laws that have made this country so desirable to live in are still in place for them to uphold.

I see alot of condemning comments on here about FOX for being what many liberals seem to consider "a G.O.P. propoganda machine." And to their credit FOX does seem to lean right on most issues. Assuming this is the truth, my question is, so what? I challenge any rational person reading this to argue that a vast overwhelming majority of the media today is not extremely liberal. Reading the USA today or watching just about any other news channel is enough to make me sick, and I'm pretty moderate.
Does the right wing not deserve for their points to be presented? Is a lack of political balance not the most dangerous issue we are facing?

My friend lectured me yesterday about sending care packages to troops in Iraq. She said I had no right to do so, and was being a hypocrite, because I do not agree with U.S. policy or the war in Iraq.

Is she right? Can I support the individuals and thank them for their service, while feeling that they should come home today (or better yet, that they never should have been sent)?

Those of you who do support the war effort, please just try to answer the question - I know we disagree and I don't wish to be attacked. Thanks.
