Jesus was a friend, if not more, to Mary Magdalen and she was a prostitute. So, no, I don't think Christianity should prevent anyone from supporting someone who is gay. However, what our president is doing is protecting and supporting Hastert who has covered up child sexual abuse. Mark Foley is a homosexual child molester. His victims were not old enough to consent by law, and it's a crime. Apparently, Bush doesn't support equal rights for gays, but he will go to any length to help Hastert who allowed Foley's activity to go on for so long. This is because Bush needs Hastert. This is a pattern with this administration. Bush will cover up anything as long as it helps his own cause, no matter who gets hurt in the process. Jesus says to love the sinner and hate the sin. He said nothing about permitting child sexual abuse for political gain. It's up to the voters of this country to distinguish the difference and replace him with the lesser evil of the candidates. They are all corrupt, but we have to elect someone. Oh, and if you think being gay is a sin, and are basing your belief on the bible, then I hope you don't eat shellfish and you stone your neighbor who works on the Sabbath, because the same book Leviticus tells you you should. When a heterosexual child molester is busted, people don't hate on all straight people because of it. The pedophile's sexual orientation only seems relevent when he is gay, and that is a double standard.

Vengeance is mine Saith the Lord.

It is not a sin to give support to the needy. It is a precept to support the feeble minded. That makes it a sin to not support Bush. ie a 84 IQ equals feeble mindedness.

That said beyond food and shelter the support for the needy gets very vague. I am certain that God had no intention that we should actually believe the babbling of a man with a 84 IQ.

Like others have said, hate the sin not the sinner. Being a pickle puffer is a sin. God did not intend for us to be homosexual. But in the end let God judge and for now, dont hate the person because they are gay, just hate that which they do that is wrong.
For your information, there is no proof the Hastret knew about the scandel. I think what Foley did is dispicable but I also think what the Democrats are doing is awful too. It was to coincedental for this info to come out when it did;right before the elections. Now them dems are speaking out against, as anyone should, yet they have plenty of skeletons in thier own closet which they never said a peep about before. Hell, a president from their own party commited adultery with an intern in the WHITE HOUSE!!! The Dems dont care about anything but the election. They can sure cover up there own wrong doings but are so quick to use someone elses for their own benefit.

Your question and your explanation dont match up. Dennis Hastert is not gay and the problem with Mark Foley is not that he's gay but that he's a pediofile. Being gay and being pediofile are not the same thing. No its not right that the president is supporting what i feel is wrong Hastert should have reported what he knew long ago.Its pure and simple a matter of right and wrong.

Over 2000 years ago, a Jew named Jesus Christ allegedly inspired "true Christians". This bearded, scruffy dude (few showers in those days and deodorant was scarce) hung out with lepers who were the AIDS sufferers of the day, "crack ho's", tax collectors, and probably "sodomites" as well. Why do you have a problem with who supports who? Apparently , while he did advocate against "sin" ( missing the mark) and he was protective of victims, Jesus was cool with all his homies. Hypocrites, those who profited off religion, and those who thought they were better than others really bothered him, and I seem to recall him being quoted as saying "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

It is a sin to judge people. You are supposed to hate the sin and love the sinner. No sin is greater than any other, so the hate you spread and your intolerance of god's creations is no bigger a sin than loving someone from the same gender.

It's a sin to eat meat on friday, touch the skin of pigs, work on sunday, or where clothes made from different treads. What's not a sin?

Clearly, you are not aware of what Christianity is. All Christians are sinners, we just choose to ask forgiveness and lead a more exemplory life. Supporting a homosexual person in their acts of homosexuality would sort of be a breach of contract... But standing behind in a non-related action is not a sin. You shouldn't hate a person based on his or her sexual preference... We just chose to vote against legalizing their marriages.... Not ban them from society. They are God's creation, too, they just made a wrong choice... Who hasn't?

I think that that would be singularizing christians. I'm not a christian, but my mom is, and supports gay rights, and a woman's right to choose over their own body. You can't really say "she's not christian," can you, since, well...she reads the bible and believes in Jesus. What is she, then, Hindu? Lol.

Yes, the bible does have things to say about homosexuality, but maybe some christians take it with a grain of salt instead of literally, or just keep their religions out of their personal convictions.

I wish MORE people were like that.
