How do you create a will to provide your significant other if states do not acknowledge your relationship? Can siblings and other family contest the will and leave a partner with nothing? How does it work regarding houses, money, etc? or is it wise to just leave everything in a savings account for partner? Law Prof only replies.

Think about it.

You can buy from South American crude from Citgo.

OR, you can buy from the Arabs that support Terrorists!

Which one do you want?

I just moved to a small town in upstate NY, have no idea what lawyer to call regarding wills. I don't know anyone here, so how do I get trusting referrals, and avoid scams? Does it matter if I go to a woman/man attorney? I hear a lot of male attorneys are sexists towards women, and vice versa?

when I answered a question with, "the majority of americans are idiots," the question was along the lines of how did bush get re-elected? Since the majority of americans had to vote for him in order for him to be re-elected, and since he is the most idiotic thing to walk the earth, doesn't it make sense that idiots had to be the ones who voted for him? The republicans got their itty bitty feelings hurt, so the scream abuse....typical isn;t it?

I am in NYS, outside of the city,if I check findlaw.org, I can find many different lawyers dealing with wills, but all too far away. Also, how do you check their credentials or know that they are good or not? I am not looking for a sarcastic,non-caring lawyer, need a good, qualified lawyer that strictly handles will/living wills/power of attorney. Also what is the cost for this? Please reply only if your a legal professional. Thank You

I distinctly remember reading what seemed at the time to be REALLY UNBELIEVEABLE YARNS of underage girls and boys being brought to Washington so GOP Upperity-ups could have sex parties with them in government offices late at night.

I was still a True Believer in Bushie at the time (I DEFINITELY AM NOT NOW!) and dismissed the tales as rantings of idiots akin to tales of GM suppressing a 100-mpg carburator for cars and buying up all the patents from a nameless genius engineer in Jackson Mississippi who worked for an oil-exploration company.

But WOW!, look at what is going down these past few days, huh?

Does anyone recall those tales and have a website or two that covers them? This would have been about four years ago, I think.

Give me some GOOD sites to read and you get the 10-er.

Please dont just rant here, OK? We ALL know what is going on. There're TOO MANY CongressDudes with bad memories and stammering before the cameras.

(And, did a Mississippi Rep just resign?)

Aah, politics. This week, it's "sex scandals." Foley is compared to other cases. Every case is different, but many of the analogies drawn and distinctions made are just spin.

Here's my question: YOU are in charge of writing the rule governing "sexual conduct" of politicians and public officials. What should the rule be? Keep in mind every case in recent history - Clarence Thomas, Bill Clinton, Mark Foley, etc. etc. etc.

This has to be a rule YOU are willing to apply to judge EVERY future case that comes up, no matter what party the person in question belongs to.

I'm just so tired of people having to find out the person's political affiliation before they decide how to react. I'm sure I do it too, although I try not to.

Who will accept the challenge?

Thanks.

My wife, 3 children and I are renters of a place where the landlord is absentee through most of the year.

We moved in on the 18th of January and through out which time we have not met the landlord we have dealt with caretakers of the property and back in June there was a significant amount of flooding in our area that flooded our basement. Upon informing the caretakers of the problem they saw to it to inform the landlord whom I presume gave the ok to have a service man come service the furnace.

However, At the same time of the flooding I informed the caretakers that we had limited use of our hot water and that it to should be looked at but it never was. Two days after the flooding we received a letter from the caretakers stating for any further problems contact the landlord directly. Because they were no longer going to be the care takers.
