Because Foley is a pervert and a sexual predator. His orientation has nothing to do with it.
He deserves to be pilloried over the incident, along with any leadership who know of the incident and failed to do anything about it. If that leads to the top, so be it.

I don't know that he has, although if the page was 18 the issue is very different.
I think you were trying to make a point, which I understand.
A better question might be whether, to the extent one believes Hastert did not do enough to investigate, he was hesitant because of political correctness. Apparently, he knew Foley was gay, and that a family or two had complained over innocuous but overly friendly emails. (The sexually explicit IMs came out later, and may have taken place after the ex-page was 18.) Hastert asked Foley about it and told him to stop. Now people say he should have done more.
What if he had? Would the story have been the Republican leaders were in a "witch hunt" against a gay person? Or could the leadership have been afraid of that?
Yes, underage people are different. I don't know that it's classic "pedophilia" psychologically (as opposed to legally) if one is dealing with post-pubescent people. But I wonder if this whole episode will end up reinforcing negative stereotypes about gay men.
I'm glad Foley's gone. I just want the same rules to apply to all.

I see the Foley scandal as two issues.
1. He is gay
2. He is a pedophile
3. One is not the same as the other.

Politics, pure and simply. Saying republicans are anti-gay over the Foley thing is like saying people who believe Debra LaFave should be in jail are anti-teacher.

Wasn't aware he was. The last thing I saw was he wondering about a cover-up?
FWIW: Couldn't care less now that Foley is gone. But, as the Dickster said "It's not the scandal, it's the cover-up".

the reality of it all is: Foley did it, others knew, noone said anything, nothing was done, and now they r trying 2 cover thier sorry asses and as usual, the re-pub-lickins (i meant 2 do that) have made it worse than it needed to be..... Foley should b castrated & incarcerated, as well as those who choose 2 ignore what was going on that they ALL KNEW ABOUT!

Is he? Somehow I really doubt your accuracy sometimes, Super.
[A]Lone Star - Republicans have no shame, they admit no responsibility for failing to protect young students whose safety was entrusted to them.
