Definitely. Not to the Queen, but at least to the security of the United Kingdom. Speaking English would be helpful as well and also sticking to one Anglicised spelling of their name.

Yes, if they're going to come here, live in our country and get it's benefits, which I don't mind, they should at least swear allegiance to it. What I don't like is people who immigrated here, live of benefits from our taxes, and still preach hate against our country.
I'm not saying it's stop that, but hopefully some would have the honour to keep their promise.

An allegiance to what? The country? The queen? A god?

No, I don't think they should. I'm a Brit born and bred and wouldn't would to pledge to anything so why should I make it a requirement of foreigners?

as there is nothing like that for the ACTUAL English, and swearing in for the military is not quite the same I do not see how it could be implemented for just them......trust me the bleeding heart liberals would be over that in a heartbeat.

Maybe we should look to Aussie for the answer to this............one of the elected officials stated if you dont like it LEAVE.but dont try to change the country once you get here.

I'm not against immigrants as a whole but I believe prospective citizens of the U.K should be interviewed and tested to see how compatible and beneficial they would be to the U.K. People with something to offer and not people just looking for a free ride that's what I say. I hate to say it but for our legal migration system we should take a leaf out of the USA's book.

There you have it now shoot me down as you please.

why go to all that trouble just stop letting these people in they come in to our country put nothing in to the system and take as much out as possible that's why many people will not have any pensions when they get old because there is no money left in the system only let in qualified people who bring something to the country with x amount of money like in Australia
