The governor of Alabama, who publicly announced his opposition to the integration of the public schools in Alabama, ordered the Alabama National Guard to stop all black students from entering any public school. The ACLU and the NAACP want to take action with the Court which would enjoin the National Guard from obeying the order of the Governor. Through what Court process can the actions of the governor be declared void and what Principle would the Court use to do so?

They're responsible for every bad thing in the Universe, for their evil reaches that far.

We're innocent and morally perfect. They are bad because they are not us, which is what makes them wrong.

My reasoning totally rocks.

Preface to this post: I'M MEXICAN. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest ... um, except for ... well, you know. I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of being a racist anti-housebreaker. RACIST!!!!

The goal of the government would be to eliminate the black market, provide a more educated use of it, influence recreational use over chronic use, make it difficult to get but better than illegal methods, and make a profit to fight more dangerous drugs. I'm not a smoker, but I think time and resources are wasted in its current regulation.

Please do not debate the reasons for/against legalization, simply how the government could most responsibly make legalization happen.

I'm thinking only seeds should be sold, so people can grow it themselves and with limited consumption. No actual consumeable parts should be legally sold. License retailers such as cigarette sellers to sell sealed seed packets from regulated producers. Make it illegal to grow a large amount or resell. Make it illegal to smoke while driving or operating machinery. 18 and over. Increase fines and jail time against any illegal offenses involving the illegal use or selling of it. Can only grow on your property.

I have been to some really poor and deprived areas of the Philippines twice. Some of you will have seen Red Nose Day or Live 8 or similar and seen the conditions of the street kids and those who live on/near rubbish tips and the temporary shanty 'towns' with no running water, no electricity, TV etc and sometimes only the clothes they stand up in. I'm sure I'm not the only ones but this, to me, is the meaning of TRUE poverty. People in the UK simply don't understand the meaning of the word. I do NOT believe there is child poverty in the UK. Hardship, low incomes, those on the breadline, sure. Life is hard. I'm long term unemployed myself and living from day to day trying to get full time paid work and doing voluntary work in the meantime.

Sorry, didn't mean to go on so long but would love to hear people's views on this. Am I talking nonsense or do you agree with me that this is just politicians trying to get more votes or give the impression that they are doing something?

This week marked the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which means it’s time for white Americans to look into the mirror and ask themselves what they have done to make life easier for the millions of impoverished Blacks they allowed to drown in New Orleans. The answer is, to put it bluntly, diddly squat.

Large crowds of local politicians stand around wondering what Bush is going to do about it.

Parts of the Gulf of Mexico are still completely underwater.

Thousands who fled Louisiana haven't been offered enough cash incentives to come back.

We can never completely repay African-Americans for what we did to them in New Orleans. But there are meaningless little gestures we can make to show the Black community that we at least care enough to pretend like we give damn about their suffering. Naming a street in your community after Dr. Martin Luther King. Treat them like helpless children who need constant nurturing to survive

When in US history has a presidential administration had a majority in both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate at the same time. When has an administration had a 2/3s majority in either the House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate. When in US history has the same political party controlled both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate at the same time without the Presidency. What legislation was passed into law during these time periods, that any opposition to would have been fruitless.

U.S. invasion of Iraq has increased hatred for the United States in the Mideast,
leading more young people to join terrorist groups.

How come Bush doesn't realize that he's only
creating more hatred & making MORE terrorists?

How can peace & democracy start with bombs?
