I have a question about how the military rank or hierarchy system works. I realize there are many ranks in the military such as private, corporal, captain, lieutenant, major, colonel, etc.
Suppose you want to become a career soldier. How long does it take to become a general (the highest rank) from a private (the lowest rank)?

Thank you.

I amr referring to the news about the Hon. Anna Diggs Taylor decision, the federal judge in Michigan, and the plaintiffs including the ACLU, Greenpeace, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, to declare unconstitutional the warrantless wiretapping by the NSA and other secret government agencies. This news became public three or four days ago.

NEW ORLEANS - Thieves hauled off $100,000 worth of heavy equipment that was being used to help build a Lower Ninth Ward memorial to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

A Bobcat excavator and a Bobcat T300 Skid Steer Loader, both of which require trailers or flatbed trucks to transport, were removed from the site sometime between midnight and 6:30 a.m. Saturday, construction company officials said.

In the neighborhood that remains nearly pitch black at night almost a year after the levees failed, the equipment didn't last three days at the site.

Can you really blame them???? Almost a year and no fucin homes put up and some assholes are tryin to build a memorial for the dead people (no disrespect) and sayin fuc the ones that are alive, I would have stole the equipment too. Why the hell are they even building a memorial in a town where anyone that its "SUPPOSED" to be for isnt even there to see it because they are out of a home and jobs, what the fucs the purpose????

Should we get rid of or tighten the hell out of social services? I know there are some that need help and don't have a problem with it, but from what I have seen about 90% are just taking advantage of the system. I know this one lady that is recieving housing, food stamps, and several other forms of aid.
yet she works under the table making enough money to buy a 30 k dollar car put 6 k in rims on the thing and parties everynight.....

I grew up in a small town where sexist doctrine was almost an institution - You know old men born in the 30's rasied in the depresion and all that good stuff. I moved to the city and almost forgot about it because it wasn't in my face and it isn't talked about or joked about the way it was when I left 6 yrs ago.

But I started talking to a women at work about wages and quite to my surprise she is making minimum wage
So I started doing my own little survey..... they are all making minimum wage $7.75 hr. A lot of them have been there for more than a few years .
I started a little survy amongst the guys who all started at 10 and have been getting raises here and there.

Now I don't have all the details (and never will) but it seems very suspicious to me that women 7.75 and no rasies and men 10 with raises based on performance and senoirity etc.

I have never talked about wages before and I think I might be one of the first to do so - it just isn't very polite.
