As long as that incompetent, bungling bozo is in office, the answer is an unfortunate no! America has been in bad shape since you-know-who first occupied the White House on 1-20-01. You already know the rest of the story from that point on.

I do feel good about America's future. The bush admin's crap has uncovered alot of inadequacies in the system---presidential imperialism, republican's partisan ashkissing and corruption, the need for America's leadership (not bullying) in the world, etc. It's always darkest before the dawn. The American people will speak in November, I believe, and again in 08.

If you are oblivious to history, insensitive to others suffering, in denial about your individual accountability and stuck believing that others out in the world are "bad people" but all of us in Dodge are "good people", then things are looking good.
On the other hand, if you have warned everyone you can think of, and done whatever you could to solve the problem, then things are looking very bad.
Part of me feels both ways, how about you?

One sees certain similarities between 2006 America and 1930s Germany... Curtailing civil liberties, consolidating power, et cetera.
It is my belief, my hope, that the Republic of our forefathers and foremothers is strong and resilient enough to endure what I consider to be the most ruthless, anti democratic (not party, the process folks) Administration in American history. If not, I guess, get ready to move to New Zealand or Canada. Mexico does have nice beaches, though...Ojala que sepas hablar espanol! Viva la Raza!

What bad news, the war IS going well listen to the soldiers that are there, not the media. The economy is strong.
What else matters 'world opinion'? You watch too much CNN, or listen only to the likes of DailyKos if you really think the country is in such bad shape.

Find a better news source, start with some major Eastern and Capitol news on your PC, that's be a good start.
And no I'm not feeling good about Iraq, Israel or any of our Governments manipulations. I don't trust them as far as I could throw Karl Rove by his little corkscrew tail, or Cheney by his forked one, and poor little Bush has no tail, nowhere I'm afraid, no cajones, either.

I am optimistic. Though the world seems to be in a terrible shape there are people everywhere who have had a taste of freedom. That is encouraging, while there may be upheavels America is still the best place to be.

It's not the America we all thought it would be today and so if this trend continues who knows where we will be in another ten to twenty years. Right now it looks grim!
