Border Patrol agents face 20 years for doing their job!

Talk about egregious miscarriage of U.S. justice!!
When Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos pulled the trigger last February, all he knew was that his partner was lying on the ground behind him – bloodied from a struggle with a fleeing suspect – shots had been fired and now, it appeared, the drug smuggler he was pursuing had turned toward him with what looked to be a gun in his hand.

In the split-second he had to respond, Ramos determined the course of his and his partner's lives – federal prison for the next 20 years for assault with serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, violating civil rights and obstruction of justice.

Ramos, 37, is an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve and a former nominee for Border Patrol Agent of the Year.

Is it fair to say that George W Bush is the most controversial US president of all time? He seems deeply unpopular with the rest of the world, although half of all Americans seem to love him.

Does G.W. Bush really break the mould, or have there been even more potty presidents in the past?

who is it you turn to when trouble strikes you...the government...but some americans are just nags and nay sayers...i am not saying you have to trust everything...but you don't have to question everything either...it is counter productive...if you, who always complains and never gives the goverment the benefit of the doubt, are so much smarter than the hundreds of thousands of people who work in the government, why don't you go work for the government and try to make a difference instead of complaining all the time...

O.K. I am a 20 year old who is absolutely sick of the restrictive laws of this Country, (USA), and think that I may steal a Yacht or a Ship, and sale my stoner *** to the Netherlands.

If I was sucessful in this attempt and did reach Dutch waters, what is the possibility that they would take me in as a citizen without naturalisation papers, and if they refused my stay, would I be extrodited back to the United States to face charges.

If so, what would those charges be?

Plants and animals are not necessary to human existance. Ask any Conservative. God made made people. People can manufacture food, air and water.

...how much will it be? I was clocked going 51 in a 35 mph zone- which, actually, I had been going faster prior to the officer stopping me. He told me he was unable to issue warnings on that particular street which I think sounds like a crock of BS, besides which I heard that they always have the authority to issue a warning and officers who say otherwise probably have a quota of tickets to fill! So I'm wondering if I have anything to go on as far as fighting the ticket in court- I know if I go to court and he isn't there, the case has to be dismissed.
And...if not...anyone have any idea how much that ticket will be??? I live in Ohio.

After I quit my last job at a major corporation, the payroll department kept sending me paychecks for about 2 months. These were direct deposits into my checking account, so I didn't take any action to accept them. I didn't spend the money, I just sat back wondering what would eventually happen. Eventually they figured out the mistake and sent me a letter asking me to pay them back about $8000.

Now it seems obvious that I would have to pay them back (and I've already written them a check), but I'm wondering from a legal standpoint, do I really have to pay them back? I'm about to mail the check, but I'm just wondering if there's some loophole here that I'm overlooking. Does anyone have any legal knowledge about this?

My 2 year old daughter is slowly being taken away from me and her brother because her father thinks it's best for her to go to school where he lives 2 hours away and he has a lawyer who can make that happen. My daughter is not better off with her father or his side of the family. They are alcoholics and drug addicts that come out smelling clean as a rose just because they are great actors. How can I keep him from ruining our daughter's life? He is a very selfish spitefull man who only thinks of himself and not what's best for his little girl. The life I have made for my children is the best anyone could wish for. I have worked very hard to pull us out of the ghetto when their father left us, and was able to buy a beautiful house out in the country. Everything is clean and fresh, and the people are kind and giving here. He still lives in the ghetto and thinks it's great. He drags her around from party to party and totally exhausts her. He's not good for her. How do I get my kid back?
