who is it you turn to when trouble strikes you...the government...but some americans are just nags and nay sayers...i am not saying you have to trust everything...but you don't have to question everything either...it is counter productive...if you, who always complains and never gives the goverment the benefit of the doubt, are so much smarter than the hundreds of thousands of people who work in the government, why don't you go work for the government and try to make a difference instead of complaining all the time...

I totally agree with you!!

People are so caught up in the 'fad' of believing that our government is screwing us.... In reality, it's hardworking people just like you and me!

Why would our government want to take advantage of us? and tell me how they would do it? If it was 10 people that ruled this country, then i'd say that it could happen. But, just as you say, there are so many, how could it ever happen!?

I believe that most Americans HAVE given the government the benefit of the doubt. It is not unfair to question the actions of your government in a fair democracy because you are truly being a patriot. Also, what makes you think that the people who do question the goverment in such a manner -aren't- being proactive and actually working for the government?

The best way to fix the system is from inside. You shouldn't assume that the people that are complaining about the government aren't doing anything. It is soem of those people that are doing the most to help bring about positive change. They are going out there in the streets, trying to make a difference and make our country the best that it can be.

Because the United States was founded on distrust of the government. It's written into the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, not to mention many writings of the Founding Fathers. It's also a primary reason the 2nd Ammendment (Right to Bear Arms) was included in the Bill of Rights (i.e., to protect the citizenry from a tyrannical government).

And "when trouble strikes"...I've never asked anybody (including government) for a gorram thing since the age of 18.

I don't go to work for the government because it is a bureaucracy. And if you think one person out of "hundreds of thousands" can make a difference in a bureaucracy, you are much more optimistic than I.

Government is a legal fiction, like a corporation. It is also a behemoth of social inertia. The energy needed to alter that inertia is greater than that of one; it requires many, in unison.

This is the same government who lied about reasons to go to war. This is the same government who did illegal wiretaps of thousands of law abiding citizens. This is the same government who twisted the arms of several telephone companys for their information. This is the same government who had a President who said "I did not have sex with this woman!" and then was successfully impeached for lying under oath and a few other items.

This is the child of the same government who killed 5000 people in Florida using US Army nerve gas then didn't allow the survivors to sue the government under the law of "Sovergin Immunity"- which essentially is based on English law saying the King is Innocent and cannot be sued even if he's guilty as hell.

This is the same government that exposed hundreds of thousands of US Army personnel back in the 1950's to nuclear weapons then refused to treat them for radiation sickness- most of them died horrible cancerous deaths.

"The government" is really a number of different entities. We tend to use the term to refer to either the current administration, or to the vague global "thing" that collects and spends our taxes. Your reference to "the hundreds of thousands of people who work in the government" indicates that you're aware of this - I hope you keep reminding people.

In fact our government - the career politicians and workers in the various agencies - opposed quite a few of the bad decisions made by the administration, and numerous career government workers quit in the face of their inability to prevent the current situation. I certainly give them the benefit of the doubt even to this day.

I gave the administration the benefit of the doubt after Bush won the lawsuit that put his administration in power. I gave that administration the benefit of the doubt again after 9/11. However, they betrayed us over and over again, and it would be foolish to continue to give them the benefit of the doubt.

whom do the people in New Orleans turn to?

This govt is being run by a bunch of mass murdering gangsters. We've all seen more than enough - benefit of the doubt? These men deserve war crime trials and massive embezzlement charges.

Get your data right now. All Obama did became carry a ban the Bush administration placed on authorities funding for international businesses that fund abortions AND disseminate advice in an attempt to help women make the right decision for them. They cousnel women. this is not precisely handing out abotions on the authorities's dime. what's your not ordinary evidence for Obama's funding "an excellent type of particular interest ideological topics as quickly as he can?" because i have not considered that yet. Obama does have monetary plans, yet in accordance to what you've written the following it would not look like you'll believe them or be prepared to hearken to them with an open ideas. EDIT: what's your evidence that Obama has contradicted himself? He in no way stated he would not launch those at Guantanamo and he became very sparkling about his stance on abortion. I f evidence of "good replace" is what you want, how about this: Obama has frozen the salaries of a few overpaid White living house senior crew. He placed obstacles on lobbyists to curtail corruption. He has entreated a diverse interpretation of the freedom of advice Act so as that authorities now errs on the facet of providing advice really of hiding it -- the Bush administration became huge on hiding advice, yet Obama needs a transparent authorities so human beings understand what's happening. And this "going ordinary on terrorism element?!" i have were given situation with that fact -- get your data right now. those men held at Guantanamo Bay were in no way shown to be terrorists. They were denied their rights of criminal professional, trial, and to be judged through a jury of their friends in accordance to SUSPICION of terrorist interest. What if that befell to someone you realize? Bush has overstepped his bounds of power, dissatisfied tests and balances, and violated the Geneva convention prohibition on torture. And all this became performed in Cuba so those violations of regulation and human rights will be a lot less seen to the american public. So forgive me if i do not flow operating after Bush now that he's left workplace. heavily, once you study about a political journey, examine the object, not purely THE HEADLINE. do a touch analyze. imagine for your self. not each little thing's as black and white as you look to imagine.

We pay the government's salaries. We have the right to question it when we believe it is in the wrong.
