It will never be legalized in OUR life time, if EVER! Actually, illegal drugs are way too profitable for the Government for it to remain illegal. There are billions of dollars in drug monies, ceassed possessions of homes and properties, the confiscated drugs itself and not to mention the **** loads of informants to be gotten from minor drug possessions that turn in their sources everyday! These will be lost if marijuana were to be legalized.

It is far more gainful for the US to refuse the legitimacy of marijuana on any level then it would be for them to legalize it.

Personally I think "medical marijuana" should be legal due to it's effects on the human body for increasing appetites in failing kidney dialysis patients, vision problems, glaucoma, pain relief, depression in cancer patients, Alzheimer's and ANY terminally ill person to help their state of mind.

I feel it would also aid in eating disorders such as anorexia, (lack of appetite or desire to eat) and "bulimia" ( compulsive nausea and/or thoughts of vomiting).

My personal belief here is that marijuana used to simply "get high" is detrimental to society. But the over-all positive use of marijuana would greatly increase the quaility of life for many millions of people.

I do NOT use marijuana myself. But I can tell you this........

My Mother was terminally ill for several years. Heart patient, diabetic patient, lost 90% of her vision and 85% of her hearing due to diabetes. Quadruple heart by-pass, lost her foot and a finger due to 16 surgical procedures for loss of circulation. She couldn't eat for fear of throwing up everything that she ate? She couldn't pee or poop on her own. She couldn't listen to music or watch TV. She couldn't hear us kids speak to her. Well I did find a way to allow her to hear me read to her! I used a paper towel funnel against her ear to sorta muffle the surrounding sounds, she could hear me read to her this way.

One night, I tried to get her to eat? She was throwing up everything she ate? She cried and hurt so bad? She was rail thin and all I could do was sit with her and wipe her tears?

I was mad as hell and did all I could to comfort her? The more she threw up, the more she cried!

I called my sister-in-law that I knew smoked pot for many years and asked her to bring some over. She asked why, that she knew I didn't, So why?

I told her that I felt that Mom could benifit from some, if she would just bring some over and smoke it with Mom?

The entire family had a fit! Who gives a rats ***!

Mom smoked some weed! She laughed, she told stories of when she was a kid, she recalled things I hadn't heard her speak of in years.

She ate an entire bag of chips and a whole can of onion dip! She ate a can of tuna, some crackers, ice cream and a bowl of cherries!

She didn't get sick, she didn't throw up............

A month later I told her Doctor what I had done? He said, "I won't tell you that this hasn't helped your Mom, medical marijauna isn't legal in this state, so do whatever you think is right for her."

She smoked pot regularly.

She died October 10, 2000. her personal pain was greatly deminished by the use of marijuana.

i dont think it should be legalized. Weed is a gateway drug, after a while the high you get from a small portion will dull away and you will have smoke more to get the same high. But eventually you will never get the original high, so you must move onto something like cocaine or methamphetamine. Weed is an illegal drug and i dont understand why everyone wants to legalize it. Even when people say it can be used for medical purposes, we have other drugs that are more effective and do not kill your brain that will help medical causes, there is no reason to legalize marijuana, and there never will be. alot of people kill other people and alot of people molest children should we legalize that too, just cuz alot of people do something doesnt mean we should legalize it

I can't believe that last person said that comment about planting it.

That is a really good question. I don't use weed and never will. I think that smoking weed is less dangerous then smoking tobacco or drinking, however that shouldn't be what determines if it should be made legal.

If done correctly, I think that it could be good to make it legal. We would need to weigh the benefit against the cost in a independent scientific way.

just as many people smoke weed as drink liquor or smoke cigarettes. legalize it now. plus I'm tired of having to hide to smoke a blunt. weed being a gateway drug is bulls.hit. cigarettes and alcohol are gateway drugs their much easier to get and kill much more often than weed.

the high you get from pot is lessviolent than a whiskey drunk, but as long as its illegal, you can still be fined, its about $$$ the tickets, the court costs, no one cares about people anymore.

I think small amounts of marijuana possessed for personal use should be decriminalized.
