Where is this coming from? And exactly how moronic is that term? Thank you for your time.

Take a look at the first post. I have seen many on here refer to Americans as illegal in the USA, DAR. Also, I have got an IM that refered to MOI as an illegal American.

This is the only way I can figure this out. We live in North America, we are Americans. People that live in central america are americans. People that live in south america are americans. So illegal americans could refer to americans that are in the united states without documentation. could be from canada, brazil, costa rica etc.

Its a contradictory term- the only "illegal americans" I can think of is those who were born here and then were arrested, and convicted.

Its coming from people who are trying to use a "Big Brother double talk" technique- by calling them "Americans' it gives them a certain legitimacy.

The term itself is moronic

Ummmm.........

Does it mean an American who illegally immigrates to some other country?

Otherwise is seems to be an oxymoron.

Coragryph - nowhere in the world do people refer to natives 'of north and south America' as "Americans". That is reserved for citizens of the United States of America as "Mexicans" refers to citizens of the United States of Mexico.

Very few americans have gone illegal, that means illegally
overstaying in other countries and not paying immigration penalty fees. some have left in order to avoid paying taxes, and they built they business empire somewhere else outside america for that same reason.

No such thing. If your in illegally in America your are not an Illegal American. You are an Illegal Alien. I guess it is another one of those silly language mistakes.

It's meaninless but someone will attach something to it.

They are not Americans, only the USA are Americans they want to change the language but are wasting their breath.

They are called Illegal Aliens, they are not Americans.

If you are here illegally, you are not an American.

Just another BS term some dipstick in the press made up to seem clever.

It's not moronic at all if you take it literally.

"Illegal" = breaking some law. "American" = native to North or South America. So, when used in an immigration context, it could refer to someone who is an illegal alien from the Americas. As opposed to an illegal alien from some other part of the world.

I agree how can you be illegal and American at the same time.

This had to be drummed up from the illegal immigrants and their brainless supporters. Why? It makes no sense, like their other "reasoning" and "logic". This is the first time I have heard that.
