By the way do you need another boyfriend?

It all depends on what MOS(Army Job Specialty) that he signed up for. Certain MOSs are needed more in the states then in a war zone but others (such as a combat medic or infantry) are needed more in a war zone (Iraq or Afghanistan). The recruiter will tell you the odds are 50/50 for any MOS you sign up for, that is complete Bullsh*t. If he signed up for any one of the following jobs the odds are nearly 100% that he will be in a war zone during his 4 year enlistment.

The following jobs have a lot of war zone potential:
Any 18X Special Forces Job
14S Avenger Crewman
13B Canon Crewmember
13E Canon Fire Direction Specialist
19D Cavalry Scout
13D Field Artillery Specialist
13F Fire Support Specialist
11C Indirect Fire Infantryman
11B Infantryman
19K M1 Armor Crewman
14E Patriot Launcher
68W Combat Medic

There are more but those are the main jobs that he probably signed up for.

My best regards to him

It depends on so many things ... I know some military wives who have never been through a deployment .. some that have only been through one and then there are others that go through multiple. It depends on what he is assigned to do .. Regardless if he does join the military ... remember to make him feel special, loved and no matter what, whatever the Army brings you will stand by his side. The best saying .. The Army may have my soldier, but I have his heart. After all, true heros wear combat boots right? I tend to think so. Hugs Mel

Something like one-third of the army is deployed in any given year. So he has about a 33% chance per year of being deployed. If he stays in for more than four years, it's almost a certainty. That's any job (MOS). Some jobs are more likely than others, but taken as a whole, it's about a 33% chance per year.

It depends on what field he gets into (MOS), there is a difference between a combat infantryman vs. something like a administrative job. If he has an MOS with anything pertaining to combat, he will most likely go to Iraq or Afghanistan sometime in the next year or 2.

There is about an 80% chance that he will go to Iraq. Don't worry he has a better chance of death in a car wreck than being killed in Iraq.

In today's Army, every Soldier has to do their part in the defense of our great Nation. He will go to Iraq no matter the job he gets. He will be properly trained and equiped before the Army sends him overseas to war.

Pretty good. As long as we are still over there, they will be sent. It won't be for a while though, cuz he has to finish training and schooling. But Army is usually over there for a year at a time, many have been sent a few times.

it really depends on his job. he may go to the middle east but not to actual war zones. don't listen to the military if the promise he won't go there though! the are like car sales men! may God be with him! also, this is a website for military wives (i know you are a gf but it is a great support!) www.cinchouse.com
my husband is the in the Navy and he has been all over the middle east, its hard! there is a lot he still won't tell me. i just make sure that he knows I love him and that i will wait for him as long as it takes! he's home now, thank God! that was the hardest 7 months of my life. I was pregnant and he was in Iraq! Stick with him girl and love him with all your heart!

Pretty high right now. But it depends on what his military occupation skill (mos) is going to be. Infantry - definately. Artillery - very high. Mechanized infantry - very high. He might not go right away. It just depends on when the unit he is going to had a rotation in Iraq. Tell him good luck and thank you for his decision to serve. Yup, sorry to say, he will be deployed at some point in his career, but it depends on his job as to what he will be doing there. Remember, there are more than just infantry here, there are cooks, lawyers, medics, supply, not every job is a combat job, but he will be in theatre. It depends, it might be a year deployed, a year home and repeat, that is how it is going for me.
