Is conservatism finished?
"conservatism was always a delicate balancing act between small-government economic libertarians and social traditionalists who revered family, faith, and values. The two wings were often held together by a coomon enemy."

Why is President Bush making it more difficult for people to enter the United States and to become citizens. Why do immigrants need appointments at embassies if they need a green card before they may be seen? What is our nation coming to, one of fear or one of closed borders?

We have to say it with votes people so PLEASE get out and vote the next election. Don't let the Voter ID Bill keep you away. There are other proofs of identification that is acceptable other than a driver's license. I am in the State of Georgia and did an absentee vote a few weeks ago. No problems at all. And I didn't even need a valid reason for voting absentee. I got the ballot in the mail from my county registrar's office and mailed it back in. We have to wake up in this country and take it back from the screwballs currently in Washington that have done NOTHING for our country that has been beneficial except to help the very wealthy. I'm not against wealth but when you "rob from the poor to give to the rich", I have a problem with that. I don't mean to sound like a politician and believe it or not, I don't claim to be Democrat or Republican. We Americans don't need to be spoon fed anymore and start thinking for ourselves instead of being told what to think.

They have also poured billions of dollars into various republican campaigns, think tanks etc... could it be we OWED them the Iraq war? The Saudis are now building madrasas all over Iraq, trying to convert them to the savage hatred of wahhabi islam.

how do you all feel about welfare, the healthcare system? what about illegal immigrants, minimum wage, big businesses? personally i believe in affordable healthcare where EVERYONE can afford some coverage yet they are still paying some amount so that doctors can still get paid a decent salary AND with the extra cash build more hospitals. illegal immigrants im perfectly ok with to some extent. mainly becuase they are the only ones rebuilding New Orleans right now (where i live). i like bush's idea on govt. work papers. minimum wage (in my oppinion) ties in with big businesses and outsourcing. cut outsourcing and there would be no need to raise minimum wage due to the extra income this nation as a whole would have, thus lowering prices for each individual. if you raise minimum wage now it gives companies a reason to switch to technology or outsourcing and less manual labor.

If the most imediate threat of terrorism is from young Arab men, is it racist to target these people when trying to catch terrorists. I'm sure young Irish men felt the same during the 70's.

Legitimate nations police themselves, prosecute crimes their soldiers commit, and apologize profusely and make amends to the victims. Who will prosecute Hezbollah terrorists for using their family and other civilians as human shields? If any Hezbollah terrorist ever apologizes to anyone, will the media give him coverage?

What nation besides the U.S. will commit troops to keep the peace in Lebanon? What is it about Jews that inspires others to always see them as the aggressor?

The difference between Israel and the terrorists is clear: Israelis endanger themselves to protect Lebanese civilians; the terrorists endanger their own civilians to protect themselves and target Israeli civilians.

I have one leaving tomorrow. It stinks, but I know he is going to "be all that he can be" and all that stuff. Just want a little company to be sad with that he is leaving.
