Why is the concept of service, or pride in one's job so hard for some citizens. These pimpled face kids really have no pride in a job well done. Why?

You're seeing LESS illegals? Where do you live? Greenland?

There sure is no shortage here in Southern California!

The rest of your question is much too broad. If someone has no pride in a job well done, then look to the parents. My 17 year old daughter works for a city government in Texas and attends high school, taking accelerated classes, two college classes, and maintains an "A" average. She is quite proud of her achievements as am I. It is unfair to lump all teenagers into the same category, don't you think? Many work jobs and feel a great deal of pride, many don't care about working. That is likely something that hasn't changed in a millenium. What has changed is their ability to find jobs in an areas that were formerly teenage job goldmines such as fast food, lawn care, babysitting, etc. Illegals are flooding those job markets in addition to the other American jobs they've managed to undercut.

Because they think they are "above" it. They think they deserve more and since they won't get more out of a job when they put more into it they don't feel the need. They grew up like that. Children need to be raised knowing that the only way you can be a successful person is if you leave a place knowing that all you had went into it, that you left it better than when you got there and know that your example will be imprinted on the people left behind. If you do this then you are immortal. I don't think we (persons from the USA) have really grasped this. The illegal immigrants didn't take our jobs. They took the ones we didn't deserve to have, the ones we are too good for. And they showed what a difference can be made when you do what you do with 100% of what you have. In my opinion.....

Do you mean the non-latino pimpled youth (and unpimpled youth, to be fair) who are taking over where there used to be Latino older people bagging groceries for example?

Because if you do, I've seen the opposite. The kids I see fairly shine with eagerness to do well. It has been a while since teenagers have been able to get these jobs after school. Only recently does it seem employers are willing to work around their schedules again.

I suppose that is also what you mean by seeing fewer illegals? I never knew who was illegally here before, however, I have seen recent turnover, particularly in national chain grocery stores. Another thing I've noticed is that if you can't understand the person at a drive through window, they are really, really friendly about it.

I am seeing a nation wide removal of illegals too. Not only that, I am seeing states diminishing the "perks" for illegals thereby creating no incentive for them to remain. As far as the other part if you question...Maybe it has something to do with kids seeing that some people get something for nothing...they see that some are being praised for a job well done when it is obvious there was no job well done and as a result the kids have lost faith in the those who do good get good mentality. when kids today see people advance (like illegals) who in no way are deserving of what they are getting it is certainly cause to ask yourself if the checks and balances of right and wrong are worth the effort anymore.

Hmm.......I doubt that an "illegal" gives any better service than an American employee BUT I have seen the trend you are talking about concerning our "younger" generation.

I think parents who bring up their children to appreciate the value of a dollar and the sweat it took to make that dollar are proud when their children work to accolades from their employers and consumers alike.

Alot of us today have forgotten to instill that in our children .......and we are paying the price for it.

Because they do not know what it is like to have to work for what you have. That is the problem with America, these people do not know what it is like to have to suffer, to live day to day, to have to break a sweat to put food on the table. Mommy and Daddy gets them a car pays for their clothes, and gives them allowance it's the grown ups faults for turning out spoiled kids who think they are too good to have to work.

Because they were not raised to have any pride in their work.

People have to get a license to have a dog, but any idiot can have a child.
