This may not be of interest to many, but it's a serious question. Time and again we hear small countries where the people feel part of decisions are the happiest - e.g. Denmark, Ireland and more. Would taking responsibility for its own governance improve the traditionally dour Scottish outlook? Or is our demeanour ingrained by the weather and a sense of failure?
... and would the remainder of the UK be happier without us?

It's a bit scary that they don't want voting machines that produce a paper ballot. What exactly are they planning to do if the voting machines don't spit out a paper ballot?

NEVER FORGET
Joseph Cannon, Cannonfire

Hizbullah's capture of two Israeli soldiers on July 12 was a direct result of Israel's silent but unrelenting aggression against Lebanon, which in turn is part of a six-decades long Arab-Israeli conflict.

Since its withdrawal of occupation forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000, Israel has violated the United Nations-monitored "blue line" on an almost daily basis, according to UN reports. Hizbullah's military doctrine, articulated in the early 1990s, states that it will fire Katyusha rockets into Israel only in response to Israeli attacks on Lebanese civilians or Hizbullah's leadership; this indeed has been the pattern.

In the process of its violations, Israel has terrorized the general population, destroyed private property, and killed numerous civilians...

Would the global corporations countenance an administration which threatened their power? Is the mainstream media a tool of the multi-nationals? Are citizens just consumers, or possibly even commodities? Are the Democrats and Republicians essentially two wings of the same party (as Gore Vidal suggested)? Can any nation claim to be a real democracy? Are we all buying into the myth of democracy? And if it could exist... would it work?

I am a heterosexual male. I did NOT chose to be heterosexual. I just am. How does that not apply to homosexuality? Aren't gay people born that way? And if that's the case, isn't it wrong to deny them any right because of the way they are born?

How is this not racist? How is this different from denying someone rights because of skin color, ethnicity, nationality, religious beliefs, etc?

I think one day we will look back on this issue the same way we look back on segregation and racism today.

I was wondering if anyone could answer my question. Let's say you had your Social Insurance Number stolen, when you ask the government to issue you a new one, do they give you the same number or a new number?
Thanks
