This last campaign my husband and I got pulled over 4 times and he has a note from the doctor to not have to wear a seat belt. I say no fair, It proves they are targeted and that it is. We were never once asked for proof of insurance. But one officer told us that they are supposed to issue 3 tickets ever ten minutes. Some campaign.Where is the freedom going

There are so many examples where democracy has been given or forced and have become very successful nations that protect individual human rights. The two most noteworthy recent such events have been Japan and Germany. These progressive, successful, prosperous nations were forced to adopt a representative form of government and now are strong adherents to the rights of the individual. Why is it such a persistent MYTH that democracy cannot be given?

Violence hasn't helped. If we kill 1 terrorist......100 will replace him. Revenge is the main reson why they choose the path of terror. According to human rights research, it only increases acts of terror. Perhaps appeasement, love, compassion, sacrifice can save the world.

I am a Disabled Vietnam Veteran, but my reasoning faculties are intact and it is as crystal clear as water and completely undenialble that...when you have bombings in India, you have war going on in Afghanistan, you have war going on in Iraq, you have a war going on in Gaza and South Lebanon, you have Syria and Libya and North Korea actively plotting to defeat the democracies, you have Ahmadinejad, the leader of Iran, saying publicly he wants to defeat the Americans and utterly wipe Israel from the face of the earth, you have people plotting to blow up New York tunnels, you have Canadians plotting to blow up the Canadian parliament and behead the prime minister...

My point is... we are in a war!

My question is ... WHY can't Left - Wing Democrats
acknowledge this and "act accordingly" for the sake of
the Nation and the US troops at the Fronts!

US Executive order 11375

The order specifically requires certain organizations accepting federal funds to take affirmative action to increase employment of members of preferred racial or ethnic groups and women. Any organization with fifty or more employees and an aggregate revenue exceeding $50,000 from a single federal contract during a twelve month period must have a written affirmative action plan. This plan must include goals and timetables for achieving full utilization of women and members of racial minorities, in quotas based on an analysis of the current workforce compared to the availability in the general labor pool of women and members of racial minorities.. - Wikipedia

This is ordering to hire people not because they are qualified or not but to hire them because they are a minority. Is this fair to non-minorities who are more qualified? NO, should this order be abolished?

if you prove anything i stated to be wrong go ahead and point it out and give your reason.

Well, I am an old political science graduate with an emphasis in international relations. And I wasn't surprised one bit by the Bush tape. Politics are much much dirtier than the genereal public realizes. Most Americans only pay attention to glossy TV ads once every 2 or 4 years. Everything looks nice and clean. Everything comes off as black and white. Men wear suits and pander to audiences. Audiences eat it up, vote (the majority don't), and everyone goes home. But what goes on behind the scenes is probably too much for the general public to stomach. It's like sausage making. We love the result but the actual production is greusome. Things get pretty crude when the door closes. And in some cases, it gets caught on camera. Also, a related story would be the hundreds and hundreds of actual bribes that were caught in Peru. They were made public and it brought down Fujimori. But that is a bit off the subject.

promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it."

After the bashing of Kerry during the campaign season, do you think they regret their actions of making Bush look stronger on defense, security, and economy?

The same thing happened to Gore with the "Invention of the Internet" and Dean with the screaming frenzy and Tom Daschle with his filibusters. Sometimes I question which side they are really on. What is the U.S. coming to when you can't trust the corporate media anymore?

I hope Yahoo Answers doesn't delete this question.

After asking some political questions and seeing the answers, I think I have found the answer to what the difference is between conservatives and liberals.

Conservatives have faith in their fellow man, and liberals do not. Consider the following:
Conservatives are willing to get rid of social programs because they believe most people are good, and will help each other. Liberals believe we will let our fellow man die at our doorstep, so they enslave all of us in programs. Conservatives believe Bush has made mistakes, but is basically a good man and doing the best he can. Liberals believe (without evidence) that Bush is murdering people for a few oil dollars. Conservatives believe companies are generally good and will take care of their employees. Liberals believe "big business" is trying to screw customer and employee alike.

If you examine any liberal policy, I believe you will see that it stems from a distrust and fear of their fellow man.

Anyone think I'm right or wrong?

If a police officer hits or touches someone the officer gets disciplined. in the older days if you did somthing wrong and you were seen by the police you got told off and any talk back got a clip round the ears. this taught respect for authority,,.

Now there is no respect in a lot of people, espically teenagers, they're often out causing trouble, and often assult the police if they try to do anything.

Police need the authority to strike fear into these people, they need to be able to clip these people round the ear holes, be able to rough house them.

Go to spain, the police there all carry guns, and you don't see as much as the trouble there you do here.

I may sound like an old man here.. but I am only 27, yet I am afraid to walk down the local high street after 7pm, alone, incase anyone approaches me.

Please I would like to hear your comments, please post your experiences with police dealings.

i just graduated college and am struggling to pay my student loans. i have a wife and two kids. befor i went to college, i tried to get in the navy army and marines, but i was turned away. I was told to get my ear fixed i had to get a eardrum patched up. this was 8 years ago. I just met up with a recruiter and i am supposed to go to the MEPS next month. it is hard for me to get a hold of my recruiter. he is in another state. I chose him because i met him on a personal level before, so i know he wont try to lie or anything like that. I am still a little skeptical that when i go to MEPS they will find that my hearing isnt good enough although I have all the documents from my doctor and a cleared note from him to join the military. I am still a little skeptical of my hearing. do you think my recruiter wont call me back because he knows something about my hearing that i dont know, or do you think it is because he lives so far, about 250 miles. please explain. i am very nervousiwantthisbad

Here's a bit for those of you who don't like to read:
One of the first U.S. servicemen killed in combat in Iraq was not a citizen of the country for which he sacrificed his life.

Lance Cpl. Jose Gutierrez, 22, a rifleman with the Marines, died in a firefight March 21 near Umm Qasr.

Born in Guatemala, Gutierrez held permanent U.S. resident status, which he obtained in 1999.

At 14, with his parents dead, Gutierrez followed the path of 700,000 of his countrymen to California. He made the 2,000-mile journey from his Guatemala City neighborhood without entry papers. He hopped 14 freight trains to get through Mexico. U.S. immigration authorities detained him.

Fernando Castillo, Guatemala’s consul general in Los Angeles, says the United States doesn’t deport Guatemalan minors who arrive without family. Gutierrez was made a ward of Los Angeles Juvenile Court. He was placed in a series of group homes and foster families. He learned learned English and finished high school.

When he reached 18, he got residency documents, Castillo said.
