Not exactly, 6000 Iraqi died in May and June. That to me does not seem like a step foreward for the people of Iraq.

I listened to ordinary Iraqis being interviewd the other day and they were saying that things were bad under Saddam Hussein, but now things are much worse. So, from an Iraqi point of view the USA is not doing any good in Iraq. They should never have been there in the first place. Iraq was never a threat to the USA. For 40 years the USSR was the biggest threat to the USA, and yet America didn't go and bomb the hell out of Moscow, did they? They achieved bugger all in Vietnam either, except a lot of death and destruction before going home with their tail between their legs. Its about time that American (and Britain) stopped stomping around the world with jackboots on.

The US has accomplished many good things in Iraq. However the bad news is on the front page daily while good news has little chance of getting printed at all. This is wrong. The media is supposed to report the news, bad and good. Reports of another car bombing took the front page the day 8 million Iraqis turned out to vote, despite numerous threats from terrorist groups. 8 Million Iraqis, refusing to be terrorized, VOTE. Saddam has been removed and is on trial in Iraqi courts, run by Iraqis. Everyday more and more responsibility is assumed by Iraqi forces. Everyday the insurgent presence is lessened. Everyday there's less and less talk about Iraq by Democrats, because they were proved wrong again...
The UK and Australia have been there every step of the way too.

No, they are not, they had succeded to make Iraq a democratic nightmare, with more then 30 deaths of civilian population per day, major civil( religius) war between suni and shia plus al qaeda, + syrian and iranian paramilitary operation under iraqi resurgence,
I do not know ,did anything go ok, after they finished first part of the war and entered bagdad?
Or was this all expected, and is only preparation for topling regimes in Syria and Iran.
The only thing that they have succseeded is military presence in this specific region with over 100 000 soldiers, and who knows how many private organizations on pentagon salary.

Let's get three things clear first: (1) The question is about the U.S, not the soldiers (2)The soldiers are doing an exceptional job under the circumstances (3) In the unlikely event that a soldier in Iraq reads this, I mean no disrespect. O.K. now to the facts:
(1) Rupert Mudoch, chairman of News Corp. owner of Fox News Feb, 2003 - "The greatest thing to come out of (invading Iraq) for the world economy would be $20 a barrel for oil".
www.foxnews.com - July 14, 2006 - "Oil touches record $78 on Mideast Coflict;
(2) N.Y. Times, Dec 31, 2002 - "The administration's top budget official estimated today that the cost of a war with Iraq could be in the range of $50 to $60 Billion".
Congressional Budget Office - July,, 2006, From March, 2003 $290 billion has been allocated for activities in Iraq. Additional costs over the 2007-2016 period would total an estimated $202 to $406 Billion.
(3)Paul Wolfowitz, then deputy defense sec. - Feb 27, 2003 - "Peacekeeping requirements in Iraq might be much lower than historical experience in the Balkans suggests. There's been none of the record in Iraq of ethnic militias fighting one another that produced so much bloodshed and permanent scars in Bosnia".
The Times of London, July 14, 2006 - "West Baghdad is no stranger to bombings and killings, but in thepast few days all restraint has vanished in an orgy of 'ethnic cleansing'...Mosques are being attacked. Scores of innocent civilians have been killed, their bodies left lying in the streets."
(4) President Bush - Dec. 18, 2005 - "My fellow citizens, not only can we win the war in Iraq, we are winning the war in Iraq."
Gen. Peter Schoomaker, Army Chief of Staff, Jul 14, 2006, when asked whether we are winning the war in Iraq - "I think I would answer that by telling you we are not loosing."
(5) Vice Pres. Dick Cheney, Aug. 26, 2002, "Regime change in Iraq would bring about a number of benefits for the region. Extremists in the region would have to rethink their strategy of jihad. Moderates throughout the region would take heart, and our ability to advance the Israeli-Palestinian peace process would be enhanced".
Conclusion: Newsweek Conventional Wisdom Watch, July 24, 2006 edition: "Bush - The world is coming unglued before his eyes. His naive dreams are a Wilsonian disaster". Finally, anybody that dares to tell me "America love it or leave it" can kiss my a$$. "America Love it and Vigilantly Police Your Government".

They're doing great on a individual/unit level. It's the guidance and the objectives that are the problem.

Also, we are not there to steal the oil. This is the dumbest and oldest argument of 'why we REALLY went to Iraq'... ugh...

In my book, the simplest explaination is often the right one.

You can believe there was a secret conspiracy between Bush and Blair and the Illuminati for all I care.

I mean, gesh, Bush can't even turn of his mic at a Russian confrence thing, you think he can mastermind a secret government plot?

Anyway, if we went there to steal all the oil.... WHY ARE WE PAYING 3 BUCKS A GALLON FOR IT? Hmm... we don't seem to be getting much American oil for sale do we? Hmm, no we're still buying all Opecs oil. So we stole Iraq oil and then stockpiled it?

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I think that they definetly are. Although we may get some oil out of it, and people have been killed, we have successfully disbanded the Taliban, and made the people there free. Have you heard what Saddam Hussein DID to his people? All the torturing and murdering? Now that he is in custody, that won't happen anymore. Yes, it is a very good thing that we are over there liberating the people.

It depends on who you ask, If you ask the US media then no, But if you ask the Iraqis, the answer would be yes, the 3000 iraqis they say were killed is still a better number than the millions found in unmarked graves from the regime......
