Look at this link. I was thinking of whether the circumstances prior to WWII are the same with today.

Well if you’re looking at it from the perspective of manpower, armor, airpower and navy, then no, their capability of attack is not very great. But greatness of strength is not the real determinant of capability, in this instance the tenacity of their leader and weather he is able to polarize his people to fight for his cause is.

Much as though we’d like to marginalize our general perception of Kim Jong Il’s personality and public image as being somewhat campy and at best lent to descriptions of being a comic book ‘bad guy’, he is very much endeared by his people who refer to him as “Dear leader”. Being as such it becomes somewhat disconcerting for any of North Korea’s neighbors to have to think of Kim Jong Il as having the bomb. And if one considers the level of narcissism he’s demonstrated amongst his own people as well as his apparent thirst for power, it becomes apparent that he could pose a very grave treat to the entire Northern Pacific and Asian region.

What you might’ve wanted to put on your list as well is the charismatic level (or pull) their political leader has upon its people, because whether his people like him or not they definitely have tremendous respect for his leadership and are quite willing to do almost anything he asks.

So in short to answer your question as to whether North Korea has the muscle, I’d say no, but he definitely has the gall to strike first if need be, and gall behind a nuclear warhead is far more dangerous today than Hitler was in pre-nuclear world war 2.

*Also, lets not forget that Hitler was a very charismatic leader for the German people and he knew how to exploit his peoples socio-economic weaknesses.

Currently, they have the building blocks for it but they have not gotten to the point where the blocks are utilized to make it a dangerous country. North Korea is one of the depressed economy in the world (the famine just shows how much the citizens have suffered), Right now, they are trying to show military muscle but they do not have it

The wild card is the leadership. What is on his mind?

They have a 1,000,000 person Army and have a real potential to attack at least regionally and they are working on missiles that have the capability of reaching the U. S. so yes they have muscle, and need to be reckoned with.

Maybe. I can see N. Korea launching a missile shortly that will hit the US. With the chain of ties from them to Iran to Syria to Lebanon, all hell will break loose. After all, N. Korea was in the spotlight, right where it wanted to be, now it's not. I don't see the wacko leader allowing that to happen.
