After asking some political questions and seeing the answers, I think I have found the answer to what the difference is between conservatives and liberals.

Conservatives have faith in their fellow man, and liberals do not. Consider the following:
Conservatives are willing to get rid of social programs because they believe most people are good, and will help each other. Liberals believe we will let our fellow man die at our doorstep, so they enslave all of us in programs. Conservatives believe Bush has made mistakes, but is basically a good man and doing the best he can. Liberals believe (without evidence) that Bush is murdering people for a few oil dollars. Conservatives believe companies are generally good and will take care of their employees. Liberals believe "big business" is trying to screw customer and employee alike.

If you examine any liberal policy, I believe you will see that it stems from a distrust and fear of their fellow man.

Anyone think I'm right or wrong?

I not only agree, but also believe I couldn't have said it better, myself. Excellent thesis. A+.

Are you saying that there should be no distrust of your fellow man? Lets start at the beginning of this country; Take a look at the Native Americans, but first look at how many people around you have or had drinking problems, then take a drive through a reservation and stop at any gas station then tell me why it is that alcohol is cheaper on reservations than anywhere else and Indians have a alcoholism rate of over 50% amongst men, women and children over 10yo. It's because they made the mistake of trusting white folks who even today don't have the integrity to face what their great grandparents subjected them to. Next lets move on to slavery; Who was more likely to be a slave owner a conservative or a liberal? And what has america done to be trusted by a black man after 244 years of slavery besides tell jim crow "come on let em vote" 100 years after abolishing the barbaric institution that was being practiced by "civilized white folks" And pass a couple of equal rights laws that are very often not worth the paper they are written on, I have experienced first hand racism in the work place when I worked for Sun Oil Co, first when I started working there in 1981 in their engineering dept. as a draftsman, I was the first black that they ever had in their engineering dept. and only then because the person who hired me had a conscience, and when he retired so did every sense of fair play in Sun Oil Co's engineering dept, and it wasn't because there were no black men trained as draftsmen, because my father who was a drill seargent at camp lejune and served in WWII and Korea was trained as a draftsman by the Marines but could never get a job in the field. And certainly the Vietnamese who still don't know why we were in their country should trust the US.
Bush may be a good man, however any mistakes he has made are due to the fact that he is too dumb to be president.

I think you are right to an extent, if you are just looking at things from the economic side.

On social matters, I think the opposite description might be true. Liberals have faith that diverse people can live together without assimilating, conservatives often do not. Liberals believe people can engage in vices without destroying themselves or their community, many conservatives do not. Many liberals believe that people should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise, and many liberals believe criminals can be reformed and integrated back into the community. Many conservatives tend to favor the police against the accused, and believe in a "lock them up and throw away the key" philosophy.

Not every conservative is this way, of course, but neither is every liberal as cynical as you present (though quite a few are).

Absolutely WRONG.

After a 'few' questions you have come to these conclusions? Try living a lifetime studying the matter, and reading liberal and conservative issues alike.

It is obvious you have a "conservative" tilt. There are many proofs that W went to war on lies, and he is not there at all for humanitarian reasons. You yourself said conservatives leave it up to other than government to serve the fellow man. No war the american people have been in since the 1800, cept maybe WW1 & 2 were for anything BUT greed.

As a card-carrying liberal (ACLU, Greenpeace, SPCA, National Wildlife Assocation, et al) perhaps I can answer the question (conservative vs liberal.

As a liberal (and speaking only for myself and the many liberals I know and love) we believe in the basic intelligence of humankind, even though the past 10 years would indicate we are wrong.

We believe religion is a personal intimate choice and should NEVER be used to bludgeon others with whom one doesn't agree.

We believe every human being is as valuable as the next.

We believe that in the U.S., as in every other nation, when everyone does better, everyone does better.

We believe that a living wage for everyone would fill the coffers to overflowing all over the country, resulting in a well-fed and well-funded country once again.

We believe that all persons who work - whether they be cleaning up the messes made by the masses, or sitting behind a $50,000 desk wearing a $30,000 suit, doing nothing - deserves a living wage.

We believe that every human being deserves health care. We believe that being uninsured should not mean being without health care.

We believe that corporations are to be viewed with caution, and that no one on this planet, including George W. or Ken Lay (rest his soul) or any CEO or any other BIG WIG deserves to be paid multiple millions of dollars for any "work." And we believe that dismantling companies, laying off tens of thousands of hard-working people and sending them into poverty and bankruptcy (and their jobs overseas) does not merit multi-million dollar bonuses.

We do not distrust nor fear our fellow man. Indeed, we love and respect our fellow man.

We sincerely believe that we are put here to help our fellow man, not harm nor hobble him and her.

We believe that, in the perspective of today's lingo, Jesus himself would be viewed as a liberal - certainly not as a conservative in today's terms.

We believe (at least those I know and love) that the current administration stole one election and then illegally used the Supreme Court to appoint GW as president (as a one-time-only never-to-be-used-again tactic, according to the Supremes themselves), and have since broken dozens of laws and should be impeached.

We believe that impeaching a man because of an immoral act (as opposed to an illegal one) was such a huge farce, and possibly treasonous in itself, the perpetrators of the deed should have been arrested and tried for treason.

We believe that impeaching a man for illegal acts (just ask me, I'll post a list long enough to clog up the system, or I'll e-mail it to you, if you like) should have already been done against the man who illegally holds the most powerful office on earth now.

We believe that man has taken us from being the most powerful, most wealthy, most beloved, most trusted, most respected, most envied nation on earth, to the most hated, the most feared, and the most bankrupt, morally and fiscally, in just six years.

Given more time and more space, I could tell you many more things that define liberals vs conservatives.

But they'd all make you mad!

would I ask what the factor of this "question" is, or your little "study" with an exceedingly small pattern length of 25 human beings? I propose, you could no longer often make certain the ratio of Conservatives to Liberals on an internet site with 10's of 1000's of purchasers via staring at basically 25 purchasers. additionally, what's incorrect with being "particular"? that's in contrast to all people can relatively help themselves in the event that they're.

i think your wrong, i have to disagree. democrats beleive in social programs becasue poverty well always be there unfortunately. there will always be people living in poverty, what we have to do is try to make this number as little as possible. look, i know social programs dont have a 100% success rate, but they hve a over 50% success rate. isnt the people that make it out of poverty worth it, i think so. there are people that take advantage of it i know, but a majority use it to try to get back on there feet. i am a social work grad student and i have studied this subject extensively. i am a democrat before liberal, liberal is not a political party. and there is empiracal evidence that these programs work. some do not and these have to be changed, there have been a few were social work researchers have seen there were not effective. but these are a few, remember before these programs are but into place, there is research and debates whether it will be effective. we just dont throw programs out there and hope they will work. i beleive that all people are inherently good as all social workers do, we fell some people got lost on the way due to certain factors (enviornment, family upbringing, peer pressure, atc.) e-mail me if you have any questions on social programs. i havent heard any liberals make this comment, but if they did it is wrong.

you forgot the conservatives want less government control over everything and the liberals want more, because they don't seem to think we can take care of ourselves. Other than that you did a great job putting all that into lame man terms. I'm used to the political terms that we use for all that above and it gets aggravating, cause no one knows what your talking about.

Sounds right except for this part:

Conservatives are willing to get rid of social programs because they believe most people are good, and will help each other.

Personally, I think people who are willing to sit on their *** and sponge off the taxpayers are not good people, and should not be rewarded. They should be left to sink or swim, and I couldn't care less. This does not refer to the elderly, handicapped, or infirm. Just the lazy and apathetic.

Anyone ever notices that it's always conservatives who brings up the issue of us vs. them, conservatives vs. liberals, good vs. evil, and black vs. white. Unfortunely, we live in a world with various shades of gray. Black/white world contrast is a fantasy world we built for our kids. It's best to treat it as such.

The problem with conversatives, as indicated in the question, is that they belive themselves to be absolutely right. Everybody else's opnion is moot or invalid. As for liberals, everything is about measures and limitations. Such programs are needed to guard against such vices. Certain mesaures are needed to ensure quality of life. Yet, the true is somewhere in the middle. It takes great wisdom to unreveal the real truth, rather than facts that can be manipulated to justify unrealistic ends.

you forgot about the fear, distrust and discrimination conservatives show to people of differing religions and sexual orientation.

and on the other side you forgot the never ending attack by the liberals on the second amendment.
