Here's the deal. We have two rats, and our roommate recently got a cat. The two worlds--the rat world and the cat world--do not intersect in anyway whatsoever. However, one of the rats is exhibited behavior indicative of stress and has lost her charming personality; the other is fine. I'm virtually certain that the stress is caused by permeating cat smell (not poop or anything, just regular old cat odor). Sadly, asking the kitty to leave is not an option, and while we will be moving out shortly, in the meantime, I would like to neutralize the cat stink so that the stressed rat will be able to relax. Any ideas? We've taken to using vanilla extract, as it was suggested in one of the rat books for introducing one rat to another, and this has helped some, but not nearly enough. Thank you for your answers!

I've got two pet ferrets, and they got tangled up in some spidertraps (high powered flypaper) and couldn't get loose on their own. After much ado on getting them loose, it occured to me that it would be a great rat trap. Just get a large sheet and put some cheese in the middle.
Anyone tried it?

Hi i'm michelle and i'm looking at getting a rabbit.now i did a lot of research and stuff. i did own one when i was 4. it died of a disease a few months later tho. well i had some questions. Do you think rabbits are good pets, and how much will the whole set up cost. i plan on saving to 250.00$ what is ur estimate on it though. and where is the best pet shop to get one. i know some say pet shops are bad places but i can't afford a private breeder and i would be rescueing the rabbit anyway. So please help!!!

There are two rats that are outside my house and I have been trying to kill them with rat traps, etc. They are coming to my house because of the Guinea Pig food that my piggies eat. One of my piggies was bleeding and the vet said that it could be due to the other one attacking him. They are both males, but have lived in the pet shop together since they were born and have never had any problems before. I took the bleeding one to the vet, and she said they could be having dominance problems. I think that the rat bit him, but he is better now. I put them in separate cages and they have both been alone for 2 weeks now, with bitten one in the garage and the other one in the backyard. They seem very lonely and I was wondering if I could put them back together again. I think that they will be okay if I do but should I introduce them slowly, while watching them for a couple of hours at a time or should I just put them in together at once?

I have 2 female rats that are together, we let them both get with the males and the one female was very happy with getting bred the other just kicked them away...so now I am pretty sure sally the one female is preggers, and lucy is not. Can I keep both females still together even when the one has her babies? Will they still get along with a nest of babies in the cage or do I have to seperate them?

We own 2 pet rabbits, and my dad just made a hutch for them. We keep it in the shade during the day, so they wont overheat, but is it safe to keep them out all year long? We live in the maryland suburbs, and it can got way past freezing in the winter. Will they get used to it, or should I keep them inside?

I kinda remember that an employee at Petco said that hamsters aren't supposed to urinate (something like that) and my friend's hamster urinates too and she says that it's a natural thing that hamsters do. Should I believe some stranger from Petco or my best friend that has been my best friend since 3rd Grade?

I was just wondering how long everyone lets their gerbil, or even other rodents, out of their tanks/cages for playtime? And does anyone know what the "recommended" time is? I get my little guys out as much as possible but I was just wondering! =)

I have squirels in my attic! I found how they are getting in but I don't want to seal them in. How do i get them out and make sure they are out without having to call animal control or getting expensive traps? I think they have found a way to the basement too!

My almost 7-year old daughter wants a tiny mouse for her birthday. I had hamsters when I was young and the only thing that I remember is that they stunk a lot. Any advice on the best pet for someone this age? I like the idea of something larger than a mouse - easier to find if it escapes from its cage!

Just wondering?

So I am starting my own feeder mice, and I would like to know a few things before I start.
1. How long should I keep the male and female together to be sure that the female was inpregnated? I was thinking three days.
2. How long will the female be pregnant for? A week, two weeks?
3. How many containers should I have. I am estimating three, or four. One for the male after mating, one for the female and babies, and two for seperating the male and female mice when ready.

In the US, how much would these cost?
-10 gal glass tank/wire lid
-food
-bedding
-gerbils themselves (yes, I would get two of the cute creatures)
-wheel without rungs
-water bottle
-other?
Total?

Thank you so much!
