I've got two pet ferrets, and they got tangled up in some spidertraps (high powered flypaper) and couldn't get loose on their own. After much ado on getting them loose, it occured to me that it would be a great rat trap. Just get a large sheet and put some cheese in the middle.
Anyone tried it?

Glue traps are one of the most cruelest forms of traps ever devised! If you want to get rid of unwelcome rats, why not buy a proper rat trap? There are some excellent ones on the market, including several excellent quick kill ones.
Glue traps do work, unfortunately, and the rats stick to them and eventually die of starvation, or they try to chew off their feet in the vain hope of escaping.
Victor rat traps and Tomcat are two of the better known companies that produce quick kill rat traps. Please use them before setting down glue traps.
Lastly, if you DO use glue traps for rats, your ferrets might get caught on them as well, as they did this time. I'd be VERY careful about setting any types of rat traps where your ferrets will have access.
Good luck.

So basically you are making a glue trap -- which is just about the most CRUEL trap imaginable. So what do you do when the rat is caught? Let it starve to death? Let it try to free itself by chewing parts of itself off? Just how SICK is that???

Rats are just small animals, not dirty, not scary, no different than squirrels, hamsters or your pet ferrets. Why would you want to torture them?

If you MUST get rid of the rats, please use a humane trap. Even a quick KILL trap would be better than a glue trap.

BTW -- if you ever need to free your ferrets again, use vegetable oil.

Never tried it; I if I had my own way, don't have rats personally would opt for a breed of dog that is good at catching rats; especially the ones you can't domesticate, cause the domestic ones are cute.

They make actual traps like that designed just for mice and rats. They work real good. Its much better than having a bunch of rat poison every were!
