Hi there average life span for a rat is between 2-3 years but I have had a rat that has lived to 5 years old but I sadly dont have the old girl anymore I hope this answers your question

The average lifespan is 2-3 years. In some areas of the world, due to bad inbreeding, this is down to 1-2 years. It is not uncommon for rats, especially those from exceptional breeders, to live 4 or 5 years. The longest lived rat was seven!

The average age for a rat to live is 2 years. (So sad!) Some rats can live to be 3 and very, very rarely a rat will make it to 4 years. But most rats are fairly old at 2 years.

2 to 3 years is the average life span of pet rats. 3.5 years has been achieved on occasion. 4 years and 5 years have also been achieved, but it is very rare to find a rat of this age. There is a record of a rat reaching 7 years but we, the Rat Fancy, have yet to find proof of this amazing age achievment.

2 to 3 years if you take care of them and don't smoke they will live even longer
