I've heard that with animals if you're the very first thing they see when they're born or their eyes open that they'll most likely think you're their mother.

I've heard that's called human imprinting where the animal is raised from or after birth by a human.

Is this true?

I live in a very very small town. My next door neighbor is about a 50 year old lady who owns 2 dogs. She is not 'all right' in her head, and takes a lot of medicine. One of her dogs, she leaves chained up in the back yard. It has open tumors on its body, that bleed. It also can barely walk because of tumors on its legs and body. The dogs wimpers all day. The other dog hasnt been groomed is a very long time, and the fur is matted down with its own waste and blood.

I have called all the Humane Society's in my state, but since i live in a small town that is in the middle of no where, they wont come to do anythign about it. I even went to teh Sheiriff's department, and all he did was ask the lady to take them to the vet, and she said she would, but she never did. The poor dogs is bleeding all over itself and can barely walk and i feel so bad for it. What else can i do?

i clean his tank once a week
is there any kind of wood chip that may lessen his stink?
or any other ideas?
i don't mind cleaning his tank....but the smell comes back in a couple of days.....

To me, anything that lives is an animal. But I have met people who say that snakes, insects, and fish are not animals. I actually found definitions in some dictionaries that substantiated this. What do you think?
