Why are horse questions listed under other pets instead of having their own catagory?

There seem to be a lot of horse questions. Why don't they have their own catagory like cats, dogs, fish, reptiles and birds?

Great question!!! As a horse owner, I wonder that too. I think it is because city folks are catered to more than those of us who live in rural areas. When many people think of pets...they think of dogs, cats, and caged animals before they think about large domesticated animals.

Furthermore, Yahoo!'s headquarters are located in Sunnyvale, Ca, a larger city in California and the creators of this website may think that horses aren't a very common pet. As an avid equestrian, however, who has been to thousands of shows and competitions--I know this to be a complete fallacy.

I have a hard time weeding through all of the "other pet" questions (especially all of the ones that are obviously big jokes) in order to find horse questions to answer :(

The short answer is because it'd get too crowded to list every animal people might own. However, if enough people request a category for horses, Yahoo will probably add one (how long it will take is a another matter though).

This is because VERY VERY few questions are raised pertaining to horses... So, rather than haveing a separate category, they lump it under the OTHER.
