Depends if the horse will be stalled most of the time, or if he's gonna live in a pasture area. If you're gonna let him out every-so-often, I'd recommend a well grassed 3 acres (you'd be surprised about how much a horse can eat!). But if you're keeping him in a pasture, at least 5 acres with good grass (so he won't try to eat leaves off of the trees!).

That is difficult to answer.. Most of the places arojnd here have about 1/3 acre and it seems to be sufficient and that is what most of the places around here... many of them... have. I say it is not really desireable as a horse likes to run and 1/3 or 1/2 acre is just not enough for them but if they are used to it.. it seems to suffiice.... It is comparable to a dog.. having a large dog and living in an apartment.. It is not right as a dog likes to get out and run but in an apartment, it is not possible unless you take the dog out for walks during the day.. same with a horse.. it is a good.. very good idea to take them for walks once every two days.

I have five horses on four acres. Four of them are on a dry lot about 1 acre large and they have turnout to good pasture mid day for about two hours to give them a little mid day meal. All of them are in good condition and not ribby but I feed strategy and hay which can become rather expensive(i spend for five horses about $130 on strategy a month and i feed a bale of hay a day at $3-4 a bale). So I would say at least an acre for dry lot turnout if you plan on feeding grain and hay or about 5 acres or more depending on pasture hay per horse to go without feeding grain.

It depends on where you live. Is there a lot of grass or is it more desert like? The more space, the happier the horse. I have 6 horses on 160 acres of high desert grass and sage brush. We only feed hay in the winter.
If you are just thinking space to keep a horse, like I said, the more space the happier the horse.

I agree with the person who said an acre a horse at the minimum- but it varies with if you use rotational grazing practices, stabling, feeding hay and grain etc.

IMO-- it depends on how much you will be riding them. If you plan on riding them everyday, which will be their excercise, and feeding them grain, i would say 1 acre. but if you want o ride them less, then they need more room to get their own excercise, like 6 acres each give or take.

Depends on what part of the country you live in... which state... different densities of grass, availability, and moisture... Wyoming a whopping 20-25... Missouri, yeah, about 6.... like most things in life...it just depends....
