I'm with you - I prefer cats, they're less needy. But dogs are fun, I don't hate them. Just like cats more. They're easier to care for as an added bonus! :)

I love both but prefer cats. I guess it's because I live in a condo in the city and would hate to keep a dog from enjoying a yard. Then again, I'd want a huge German Shepherd -- not a little dog.
Anyway, my fiancé wasn't a cat person until we adopted 2 cats. He fell in love with them and has become a true cat lover. So I guess dog people just need to give cats a chance.

I used to say cats rule and dogs drool, untill we got our first dog. Now we have three of them. I just adore those dogs. They all have different personalities, which makes them interesting. And they are sooo happy to see me come home. They are very loving. If you have to be gone all day long, I would stick with the cat because of the potty thing. I don't like the idea of leaving a dog in a crate all day, or chained outside.

i think it all depends on your situation. i love cats and dogs. we had a lot of room when i was growing up so we had dogs but now i live in a one room apartment and i have cats. my dad was also allergic to cats so they weren't really an option. but i still would pet a cat whenever i would see one.
some people have both. if you can do both then that would be cool too. you just have to remember that cats and dogs have their own special needs but it doesn't mean that one will be easier than the other to take care of :)

I have had both, and I must say that personally, cats are the pet that suit me. When I had dogs, I had to worry all the time about being home a certain time to let them out to pee, or to feed them dinner. With my cats, they could use thier litter boxes anytime they wanted, and I could leave their food out. It gave me the freedom to have a life and have a pet at the same time. Both animals were great personality wise. I never had one of those steriotypical mean and finicky cats. My cats were always happy and always ready to play. The dogs were also like this, but they were much bigger than the cats, and always knocked me over.
It seems when people put down cats as pets, they never had one, or they base their opinion on popular beliefs of cats or on one stupid bad experience with a cat. People shouldnt stereotype animals. My favorite pets that I ever had were my rats. People automatically get disgusted at rats because of stereotyping, but rats make great pets. I let them run around my house freely, and they are potty trained and come when I call them. They play just like kittens do. Most people dont realize that rats are like this at all. I say, open your mind.

We are owned by 6 cats and only 1 dog. So I guess we prefer the cats. Except the dog is over 100 lbs, so maybe we like them equally....Naah, CATS!

I would definitely go for a dog, as dogs are far more lovable and will give you true unconditional love in a way no cat, and much less another human being ever will.

If you love a cat - then that is what you should get. Myself, I like dogs. I want something that will interact with me. A cat has a way of being indiffernt. It also depends on where you live, type of time you will spend with your pet, amount of money you are willing to spend (shots, grooming, fleas, and license). Good luck to you!

Big cats, little cats, orange cats, black cats.
Cats with spots, stripes or solid colors. I love them all.
Unfortunately I am mildly allergic to them. But I love them so much.
I am not a dog person, at all. I don't like it when they want to lick you, and jump on you. Drives me crazy. When I meet someone
with a well behaved dog, I can tolerate them, but most dogs are
allowed to do whatever they want.
