because I haven't had time to take him. This is his third set (Bordetella, Rabies and Parvo). I'm taking him on Wed, but I'm still worried he might have rabies. Can he get rabies if he's late for his shots?

He's five.

I have two small dogs that I need to find a home. One is a dachshund, and the other is a chihuahua mix. We also own an apbt. All of the dogs are female, and they fight constantly. It usually starts with the dachshund instigating the fight, and the apbt getting severly agrivated with her. The fights have never been bad enough to the point where anyone gets seriously hurt, but I want to seperate them before it goes that far. Besides, it's not good for the dogs to be stressed out all the time. Of course, we love all our dogs, and want to find them good homes. None of our local shelters are no kill shelters, so that's out of the question. I took some pictures of them with the digital camra, and made a flyer to put up at our vet and local Petsmart bulletin. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks...

I have a 20 week Blue Heeler male dog. He is fine with my two other dogs and my family, he doesnt like other dogs and chases them and isnt too good meeting new people, I know this is in their breeding but he is also very destructive. I own 10 horses and if I take him down yard he trys to herd and chase them, this needs to stop for obvious reasons, how do i train this type of dog?

Every night after about 6 hours our one dog that is just over a year old black lab mix starts whinning and pawing at the door and won't stop until one of us get up. After I get up he get really excited for a couple of minutes then curls up and goes back to sleep. But by that time I'm usually awake. If we try to ignore him he just gets louder. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just moved into my apartment on the 2nd. I moved in and now, within this past week my dog has been scratching. I didn't think too much of it, because it wasn't that serious, but now it has gotten pretty bad. At this moment, I can't bring her to the vet to get a flea bath, I have to do it at home.. whats the bed kind of shampoo I can do to wash her (I'm going to the store NOW before it closes)
Also, I looked on my bed (she's a big dog ..german shep/golden ret mix.. and she lovess sleeping my on bed and couch, and I have no problem with it) and I saw a blackish brown spot and I went to touch it and it was a flea. I got to pick it up and look at it, and it freaked me out. Now my apt is small, and I need to get rid of these monsters off my dog and out of my apt!!
How do I get them out of my apartment!!!!

My 1 year old boxer has been diagnosed with Aseptic Menengitis and has been on Prednisone treatment for the last 2 months and will continue dosage for another 3 to 4 months. He's been losing hair over the past month or so and has a few bald areas and a few thinning areas, is this a side effect of the prednisone? If so is there anyway to help with the amount of hair loss? Will his hair grow back once his treatment is done? Thanks in advance.

If you spend $ 10 feeding a cat, then that is $ 10 that is not spent on a mosquito net, and a child in China dies of Malaria.

Someone might say, I am not good with people, I do not want to volunteer working with people. Well, get a part time job where you do not have to work with people, and donate the money to charity. Work is work right__???

I know, I know, this is not an easy question. Heck, I have a dog, so I am a complete hypocrite.

BUT

It does make you stop and think

Look forward to the answers.

IN THE PAST WEEK A BABY AND A SMALL TODDLER HAVE HAD THEIR LIVES ENDED AND THEIR TINY BODYS RIPPED APART BY THIS BREED OF DOG WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR PEOPLE TO REALISE THESE DOGS ARE POWERFUL AND NOT THE IDEAL FAMILLY PET. SHOULD THE LAWS BE CHANGED TO INCLUDE THIS TYPE OF DOG WITH THE PIT BULL? IF YOU HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND ONE OF THIS BREED REHOME IT NOW BEFORE YOUR CHILD IS NEXT

Sorry...This is a repost of a question that I posted last night and only had 2 answers. I wanted to get the daytime people's thoughts:)

A 7 year old Lab that was retired from service. He became fearful of storms, loud noises, thunder etc and they called in Cesar Milan to help him get over his fears?

Cesar said the dog forgot HOW to be a dog because of his intense training/relationship with humans. His owner said Gavin wasn't a PET, he was a TOOL for Law Enforcement. (I hope I worded that right) They did say while in service that he was a VERY stable, sure dog.

This got me to thinking...

Do dogs that are used for this purpose (police work, ATF work, security, drug enforcement etc) go thru this? Is there a point when they DO forget HOW to act like a dog?? With all the intense training they go thru and the 24/7 contact with people, they know more human 'commands' then 'dog' language. Do they forget how to be a dog?

Just wanted your thoughts

There are two dogs, a 2-year old male, and a 5 year old female. Both are outgoing, friendly dogs to their people, and even toward strangers when in the dog yard. They press against their kennels for strangers to pet them, bark for attention, etc. They are even outgoing when out working, tied to the truck.

However, when they are taken into crowded situations (i.e. a dog show), they become nervous, spook at noises, and crouch when strangers touch them.

The two dogs are half brother and sister, sharing the same dam (mother). Their dam is outgoing, bossy and attention-seeking, but has a littermate who was retired from the show ring due to shyness.

What's up with these two half-siblings? Is it lack of socialization, or genetics?

We adopted a lab/cocker mix in june and she was about 5 or 6 yo at the time. they said that they had never had her mess her kennel in the six months they had her (no one wanted her because she was older and overweight, about 25 #s over). the people at the shelter are pretty sure that she was abused at her old home. when we brought her home she was fine for about a week but ever since them, maybe once or twice a week, she poops in the house but we have never had her pee in the house. we are pretty sure that she knows she shouldn't but she can't help it because she acts depressed afterwards. this is getting really annoying and i am starting to wonder whether there could be anything medical?

I have 3 dogs. The third was a recent rescue. We were told she was housetrained. Her first week, she was fine - no accidents.

The second week, she began urinating and deficating in the house - almost immediately after being taken out to go. And we don't let her get distracted outside.

The 2 rooms she's chosen to urinate have never been soiled previously, so there was no residual odor influencing her.

The most recent time - this morning, she did it in front of me. When I yelled 'No!', she just looked at me and kept going.

Other than a urinary infection, why would she be doing this and is it easily correctable?

We get her outside 10-12 times a day and walk her 4 times a day.

If we can't stop her, she goes back to the rescue.

I have a very tough decision to make.I've had my dog since I was 12.Since she was about 2 she suffered from very severe seizures.I had her trained very well for roughly 2 years, then once the seizures came on it seemed like she kind of went backwards. She's almost 11 at the end of Feb and still she can't hold herself.I've done a good job to mostly illiminate the seizure and they're not as severe either but she still pees and poops everywhere.I don't know what to do anymore. She wears a diaper as embarassing as that is to say because she will almost always have an accident somewhere. Yesterday we came home though and the poo went through somehow and got everywhere. It was horrible. My fiance has had about enough and wants me to do something. He's mentionned putting her down thinking she is suffering.I just need some advice. This is hard for me because she is my baby. She does have other problems,a few times a year she can hardly walk, in pain all over and has trouble breathing.

My dog just gave birth 2 days ago and she really stinks now. I tried wiping around the anal area using a cloth with plain water but she still stinks. Is it okay for me to bathe her with soap or send her for grooming to lessen the smell? Or should i just tolerate the smell for a few weeks until she's ready for a bath? Thank you in advance and happy new year!
