I have two small dogs that I need to find a home. One is a dachshund, and the other is a chihuahua mix. We also own an apbt. All of the dogs are female, and they fight constantly. It usually starts with the dachshund instigating the fight, and the apbt getting severly agrivated with her. The fights have never been bad enough to the point where anyone gets seriously hurt, but I want to seperate them before it goes that far. Besides, it's not good for the dogs to be stressed out all the time. Of course, we love all our dogs, and want to find them good homes. None of our local shelters are no kill shelters, so that's out of the question. I took some pictures of them with the digital camra, and made a flyer to put up at our vet and local Petsmart bulletin. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks...

The only other thing I can think of is the Free newspapers like a buyer's guide. I am not sure if they charge to post an ad but it might be worth checking out.

P.S. good to see you back on here.

www.petfinder.com, search for chihuahua and dachshund in your area and see what rescues come up, there may be some local breed specific rescues in your area. if they are a bit farther away, still contact them, many rescue groups will coordinate re-location of the dog to one of their foster homes even if it is not close.

You can train them to get along. You may need a professional trainer. Go to the web site of trainer Cesar Millan, he's the best. http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/

Basically, the dogs are trying to establish a pack leader and you may be causing problems by not respecting their arrangement. If one is dominate over the other two and you feed the underling first, you are causing some friction. The dominate one gets fed first and so on.

It would be better if you could establish yourself as the pack leader and then the others would fall in line.

luck in training or re-homing.

I'm with above posters- finding an breed-specific rescue is your best bet. Check out Petfinder for some breed specific rescues in your area.

Well for the dachshund you would try the Dachshund club of America's rescue group Emma Jean Stephenson, (724)846-6745, Pennsylvania emmajean@timesnet.net

Try Doxie and Chi rescue.... they are experienced at finding the 'right' homes for the dogs. They spend a lot of time and training to educate new pwners, evaluate potential homes, etc.
