My dog just had a seizure in the morning at 3:00 A.M.
I wanted to pet him untill it was over but I didn't know if he would bite me.
Does anyone know if dogs will bite during a seizure???

He has an excellent temprement, is in lovely condition, is KC Registered and is a pure bred. I would love to extend his bloodline as he is a fantastic animal. But i dont want to and wont turn him into a money making business. How do i go about studding him? Any advice on the do's and don'ts would be appreciated.

Has a Bassett ever won Best of Show at a major show? I'm wondering if the Bassett's natural body shape makes it hard to show to its best advantage. It seems the very characteristics that define the breed and the judges look for work against the dog in anything but best of breed judging. Frustrating!

On Saturday afternoon I came out and there was a dog sitting on my porch. It was raining and I took it and put it in my basement. The girl upstairs from me gave it a bath, collar and put an ad in the newspaper for "Lost Dog". Well, I've been letting it stay with me and it keeps having number 3 all over the place. I don't understand why. Someone gave me dog food and it's been eating that but it keeps number 3ing all over the place. Last night I took it to PetSmart and it number 3ed all over the place. Ugh! I'm dry heaving.

What can I do to make it stop number 3ing all over the place? Should I buy another brand of dog food?

He's a 15lb Pomeranian, and usually extremely heathly. He has been having diarrhea since Saturday night, and has been vomiting since Sunday morning. He hasn't eaten a bite, but is drinking a lot of water (that I always try to give him). The diarrhea is extremely runny and liquidy, and he can't hold it. He is crate trained, and pooed outside of his crate last night (like he stuck his butt up to the edge and tried to make sure the poo didnt get in the crate). He also vomited in his crate.

He's a bit lethargic, but not too bad, which is why I thought it would pass. I believe he's up to date on all of his shots, and he's young, only 2 years old. Any ideas??

I cant think of anything weird he has eaten, and I havent found any evidence of it either.

She is solid white with one black patch over her eye. I think she looks just like a pirate, thats why I'm thinking of naming her Grace O'malley, after the famous female pirate.I would probably call her Gracie for short. I like Gypsy too though........i just can't decide!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a week now and I can't get him to eat. I've used the food the shelter gave me and mixed it gradually with another brand they recommended. I have taken him to my vet and she said to give him time. At this point, should I try a soft type of dog food or stick to the dry food?

We got a new dog about 2 weeks ago. One is 5 years old and is a Mini Doberman. The other is a 2 year old cattle dog mix. They keep fighting very fiercely to the point that you have to physically separate them. The mini Doberman has a sizable chuck of flesh missing from his leg from the attacks even though you start most of the conflicts.

Max is now over a year old so he should know better, right? Gato is really sad and runs to me everytime that Max is around. Once, Gato was sleeping in my bed with me and Max came into the room. Gato was sleeping so he didn't notice, until Max jumped right on top of him. Max was top in his class at dog training and even won an award so it is not like he is doing this without realizing that he is hurting Gato, emotionaly and physicly. Please help!

I am weaning my dog off of the Gentle Leader and feel that a martingale will be an acceptable alternative as a last step before going to just his regular collar. However, I prefer to use my own leash, so I do not want a collar/lead combo. And, if the collar is nylon, it MUST be rolled or thin nylon so as not to ruin my husky's coat like flat collars do. Any websites to recommend to find this type of collar?

Since a while there..my dog has become very annoying..whole day..just like that for nothing..she keeps on pleading, yapping and growling..whole night she disturb us...with that..we can no more have a proper sleep..During the day..i let her loose..she has her freedom..also i end up having always lots of surprise with her..she poop and pee where that please her..she is going to be a yr soon..and her behaviour is not improving..she did it in her cage as well..when we put her out..she just think about playing..she wants to eat when she wants..when we gave her food..she plays around and sit and watch us..Sometimes whilre playing with her..she just ends up caming infront of us and pee with no shame at all..i prefer her when i was 3months..atleast she has some manners and was not doing her things in her cage..sometimes it's so disgusting and it's all on her..seems to me..she enjoys playing in her pee..sometimes she even drinks her pee..my dog is no more a good neat dog..

After recently losing my dog to an infection, God rest her soul, i am trying to find another dog to give a loving home to, possibly two dogs. In my area, there is an animal shelter, and they show pics of the dogs on the shelter's website that are needing homes. We all know how desperate the need is, and there are two dogs that are a pair, meaning they are to be adopted together, or none at all. They are both 11 years old seniors, and the caption under the pic said that they were abused by negligent owners. I would like nothing better than to open up my heart, and wallet, to give these two dogs a loving home. The age factor scares me, though. I don't know how long a dog lives, on average. What? 15 years tops? Anyway, i just went through the death of my dog, and i don't wanna go through another in the near future, or well, ever!!!

Would any of you adopt those 11 year olds if you were I? Can you give me the why's and the why nots? Please be honest, too.

thanks!
