There are many people that make them. Google Whippet + coat. I make my own, it isn't too hard if you are handy with a sewing machine. Most coats for straighter toplined dogs (except Fido Fleece) will not fit well so make sure it is made for a Whippet. Ebay used to have many nice Whippet coats, try there.

definitely, especially with winter coming up.
You have real cool petstuff in various shops, try it on forehand with a simple shirt and see how your dog reacts. This is already a small layer, to protect and you can get the dog used to wearing clothing. It would be a shame to buy an expensive coat and the dog never uses it.
Makes sure it fits properly, otherwise no dog likes to wear it.
Good luck!

Search on www.k9capers.co.uk for accessories delivered to your home. Whippets often need coats in chillier weather - they are delicate things.

Go to GoingHomeGreyhounds.org and look at their store and their newsletter...there is a company that makes coats for greyhounds....I am sure you can find one small enough for your whippet...they are fleece lined (with fleece over the head & neck) and a weather proof outter, with velcro strips the go around the belly...easy on and off with slot for leash. We have one for each of our greyhounds. (they are machine wash too!!)

I have a coat from this company and I think it is great:
www.houndtogs.com
Also, you can try:
www.needlenoseapparel.com
and
www.houndzinthehood.com
All of those make custom items that are specifically designed for sighthounds, so you know they will fit your dog perfectly! I have the house coat from HoundTogs and it is really nice. Super soft and warm, and fits really well.

Why not? It depends on where you live, but in some parts it can get pretty cold and they are thin dogs with short hair. Not much body fat usually to keep them warm if they are outdoors.

definitely. especially if you live in a cold climate. we have a dog with very short hair, and went to petsmart and found him a really neat green winter coat with a hood and he loves it. if you don't have a petsmart near you go to www.petsmart.com. you can shop online.

what colour is it? I might be interested in buying it. Or isn't that what you mean? DO be a little more precise in your question.
