He's a 15lb Pomeranian, and usually extremely heathly. He has been having diarrhea since Saturday night, and has been vomiting since Sunday morning. He hasn't eaten a bite, but is drinking a lot of water (that I always try to give him). The diarrhea is extremely runny and liquidy, and he can't hold it. He is crate trained, and pooed outside of his crate last night (like he stuck his butt up to the edge and tried to make sure the poo didnt get in the crate). He also vomited in his crate.
He's a bit lethargic, but not too bad, which is why I thought it would pass. I believe he's up to date on all of his shots, and he's young, only 2 years old. Any ideas??
I cant think of anything weird he has eaten, and I havent found any evidence of it either.

He's up to date on all of his shots that I'm aware of. No blood in stool. I'm calling the vet right now and taking him in. I took him to a dog-o-ween event last weekend where he was around lots of other animals, which is freaking me out. Could he have caught something?? Thanks for the answers, I'll keep you posted

Took him to the vet this morning- did a fecal test, which was negative for any parasites, worms, etc. Vet thinks it's something bacterial, so he's on antibiotics and cant have food for 24hrs, and must eat white rice and Pedialyte for a few days after that. He's stopped vomiting, and is in much better spirits. Hopefully this diarrhea will go away soon.

If your pet is also up to date on his dewormings, take away all food and wter, and get it to drink the non-flavored baby pediolyte if if you have to force it down him with a syringe. You can also give him some Pepto Bismol 1 teaspoon per 5 lbs. every 6 hrs.You may want to go to this site for other home medications.http://www.filarescue.org/medicines.shtml ,also try giving it a dab on your finger of the light karo syrup , honey,or the Nutri-Cal,this will bring its sugar level back up,as the diarrhea and vomiting has lowered its sugar. He will dehydrate if he isn't forced to consume the pediolyte.

Diarrhea is very very serious, even moreso than vomiting. Your dog can be dehydrated, especially since he's so small, and that could lead to him becoming very, very sick and possibly dying. Diarrhea that lasts more than 24 hours is extremely serious.
Get him to the vet immediately. Until the doctor checks him over, no one here will be able to tell you what's going on with him. The doctor may ask you to bring in some of the loose stool so he can check it for parasites. He may do an xray to see if there's any type of blockage.....and he'll probably give him intravenous fluids because there's not doubt he's dehydrated.
He could possibly be a very sick puppy...you need to call the doctor NOW, please.
Good luck.
DO NOT SELF MEDICATE UNTIL HE IS SEEN BY A DOCTOR.
DIARRHEA SINCE SATURDAY IS VERY SERIOUS!

He may have a virus, or may have gotten something bad to eat or lick thats giving him this. My suggestion? Take him to the vet! A normal, healthy dog may occasionally get a little diarrhea, but vomiting? And the two together? Not in a healthy dog. Make sure he is getting plenty of liquids until you get him into the vet, because when its running a both ends, they easily get dehydrated. Poor little guy, when they try and back it up in the crate to get it outside, you can't be mad, but I gotta give him credit for not soiling his immediate area and the creativity and ingenuity he used to get it out. Poor little Pom! Hope he's okay and you don't have too sick a pup. Good luck with him!

It's time to be concerned! When a dog doesn't eat something is wrong. Diarrhea and vomiting could be symptons of a variety of conditions and problems, only a vet can determine what is wrong with your pup. Don't delay any longer if he's still vomiting with diarrhea, get him an appointment soon.
At only 15 pounds, I can imagine this little guy can go too long without serious organ damage.

You'd better hope it is not parvo....Parvo is a virus that basically eats away at the interior lining of the intestine. Is the dogs stool bloody? If the dog has Parvo, The chances of survival are usually small. However, i have heard of some "miracle" recoveries, Give the dog some Pedialite or gatorade and get him to a vet.If you do loose the dog, be sure and bleach your yard and wait at least 12 months before you decide to adopt a new dog. do not reuse the animals bedding or personal stuff, dishes, toys etc; Good luck!!!

I agree with the previous comment also...get your dog to the vet asap.
I have a chow/lab mix who for the past three years, at this time, vomits and has diarrhea. I always take him to the vet. He is always severely dehydrated and usually gets medicine to settle his stomach down.
Last year, we didn't notice this happening and my dog almost died. He had to be kept at the vet's office for several days because I didn't do anything soon enough for poor Buddy. The vet noticed in his chart that the previous year we had had Buddy in for practically the same thing. So I made note to watch him at the beginning of Fall for us, here in Arkansas.
Sure enough, this year as soon as I noticed problems, I brought him in and it made a difference, because he wasn't so dehydrated and the meds worked faster on him.
I also have two other dogs, and Buddy is the only one who ever exhibits this sickness each year. The vet did extensive tests and was unable to find anything.
But, please, please take your puppy to the vet before it's too late. Also, please re post and let us know how it went with your dog.

i have a pom also he is about almost 2 years old also. mine is healthy but he has done that to . the only thing i can tell you is he probably did get into something that didnt set well with him and he is trying to get rid of it or he may just have a little bug . have you changed his food brand at all because i have done that and my pom had the same symptoms for a few days over that so that could be it to. my pom also has allergys which causes him to vomit or have runny poo sometimes that might be it to. the vet told me that poms are bad about having allergies. anyway i would try the pepto also it will help calm his belly down and help with the diarrea and keep giving him lots of water so he doesnt dehydrate from the diarrea.

I agree with the other poster. Try some pepto bismol. Works wonders for diarrhea. Plain white rice is also good for diarrhea. As long as he continues to take liquids, I would give it another day to see if things get better. If not, time for a vet visit.

It is a possibility what you said. Your dog must have eaten something fell bad for his stomach. Maybe he has a virus messing up with his systems or maybe parasites. You should take your dog to the vet right away. Your dog may be at risk of dehydrating.

I sure hope that he is up on all of his shots, because it sounds a lot like parvovirus.... get him to a vet immediately. He could have a serious kidney problem, or a gastro issue. Being sick for this long, no matter what the cause is too long for a dog.
Good luck.
