I have 5 pets. 4 of them are microchipped. (2 cats and 2 outdoor dogs) The dog that isn't is an indoor pooch, but I'm considering getting her chipped for the peace of mind... Is it worth it?

I live next door to a couple who own 2 male Chow Chows. They are nasty dogs. They have to be muzzled to go to the vet. The owner is afraid to shave close to their heads when grooming them for fear of being bitten. One dog has bitten my husbands ankle, but he had on work boots so it didnt get his skin. This same dog has been hit by a car while chasing a man walking his dog down the street. I have a 5 lb dog and 2 kids so I am concerned. These people absolutely refuse to tie/leash/fence their dogs in. They claim they can keep them in their yard. I reported them to the dog officer who sent them a notice stating their dogs are on the dangerous dogs list and they HAD to put up a fence, but they havent done it yet because now they are disputing the property boundary!! it's a total stall tactic, but it's buying them time. We got an attorney, but none of this helps when we are outside and these dogs are out! We actually have a loaded pellet gun ready just in case. Sad. It isnt the dogs fault.

At the off-leash park in my neighborhood there is a pug my dog does not like. My dog has only pinned & barked at this dog, who continues to approach when it sees her. Last night the pug sniffed her stick. So she pinned the pug & barked at it. I corrected my dog, & put her on restriction.

The owner of the pug was understandably upset. I apologized heavily, asked if his dog was okay, tried to explain that my dog was going through training & was still young - 1yr.

Then he launched into threats & accusations. There was no chance for & he refused to listen to my apologies. I know that he will be back at the park & I am not going to avoid it (her training class meets there). A lot of dogs at the park seem to have that dog they just don't like. Most of them seem to know & it they avoid each other (expect for this pug I guess). The dog in training so that she learns to handle the situation better, but is no threat to anyone.

How do I deal with running into this guy and his pug again?

I love poodles! I'm thinking of adopting a teacup poodle. I live in a one-bedroom apartment by myself, and I work full time. I am gone for about 5 hours in the morning, come home for lunch for an hour, and am gone again for 3 hours. Would the poodle get too lonely with me gone at work? Is an apartment ok for a small dog like this? What kind of health problems do these dogs have? What is the average life span of a teacup poodle? Would I be better off with a cat?

As of yesterday, I have taken in a dog that was found roaming loose by my nephews school. No one recognized the dog as belonging to anyone in the area. Here's what I did:

1) Called the Humane Society & County Animal Shelter to file a found report.

2) Ran ads in the city paper & a smaller paper circulation in the area the dog was found.

3) Put ad on Craig's List.

4) Putting out posters in the general area found & any local retailers that allow it.

5) Checked for a microchip, none.

None of the ads describe the dog beyond stating a small/medium size. I expect the owner to be able to properly identify so as to ensure it is the true owner inquiring. Any other ideas I might try?

There is a 3 dog limit in our town, so we can't keep the dog permenantly. But if an owner isn't found, I will seek out local rescue groups to see if it can be placed on their listings and am willing to foster until a adopted. How long should I wait before concluding the owner can't be found?

I have 2 bitches, 7 year olds, both spayed. They are springer/field spaniel X. My friend brought us a new Jack Russell X puppy which is 6 weeks old. My girls will not go near him, they seem terrfied of him. I have him in a cage, which gives him some form of comfort and safety, and also my girls some peace of mind, but they won't go near him even to smell him in the cage. Have tried rubbing a towel over him after drying my dogs with it, hoping to put their scent onto him to make them accept him. Hasn't worked. Got him Monday, this is Wednesday. Please can somebody help me?
NO JOKES PLEASE.

I have rescued a dog from a puppy mill about 6 weeks ago. She was never house broken and it took me about a month to do it. Now she has changed her mind. She will not use the bathroom outside at all. I can stand out there for an hour and she still won't. But as soon as we get inside she uses on my carpet in my living room. I have tried using her crate it won't work. Any suggestions??

I adopted a one yr. old JRT/Beagle mix (Junior) in Feb '06. He came to us crate trained and knew a few basic commands. During his first year of life, Junior had spent a couple months with his previous owner, 4 months in a shelter, and another month in foster care before he settled into our home. Junior became the 5th addition to our family of pets and fits in wonderfully. He's an awesome little thing! The problem is that he's possesive and aggressive when he sees another dog and he can't get to it. When he has the opportunity to actually interact with other dogs though he's playful and friendly. I can't take him in public because he will cause a scene if he sees another dog. His insane barking, yelping, pulling and growling all add up to embarrassment and frustration. Not only that, his aggressive behavior is rubbing off on my other dog. He has a home where he's loved and will hopefully live a long and happy life. We won't give up on him, we just need a little help. Thanks!

My 4 yr old dog sucks on the paws of this bear stuffed animal until they are all matted down flat. This is the 3rd stuffed animal he's been through, I threw the other 2 away after he wore through and the stuffing started to come out. He likes to lay on top of the bear while the bears paw is in his mouth and you can actually hear him sucking on it, like a baby sucking on a pacifier. He wasnt taken from his mother too early, he was 12 wks old when I got him. Why does he do this??

I have two dogs that stay outside during the early morning hours and sometimes at night. I feel HORRIBLE for making them be out in the cold, what is the BEST method of insulating their dog house for warmth? It's big enough for both of them to fit so they do have each others body warmth on their side. Thanks!

I have two labs and they are fed twice a day. They get plenty of exercise and are not overweight. The problem is that they take a crap 2-3 times a day EACH! Is it the food? They only eat dry, not canned. Can you recommend a brand for me, or is it something else?

We've had him in training. He sits & stays when he has your undivided attention. Our 2 problems are that he jumps up on people when they first arrive at our house and he takes off if he's off leash. He DOES return after a while. Any suggestions for training?
