Yes it's fine. Like others said..use a LOW or NO heat setting, especially if you are using a human hair dryer. You don't want to burn or over heat the dog. Hold the dryer a bit away from the dog and brush the hair as you dry.
Be sure that the SKIN is dry before he goes outside.

And an FYI (in reference to another poster)..you can bathe your dog as often as needed. (mine are done once a week) Yorkies, especially, need regular grooming at least every 4-6 weeks. I have seen Yorkies that only get bathed/groomed once a year..PLEASE do not do that to your dog! It may be ok for a Lab or a short haired breed to go a full year without being groomed/bathed (but it is good to bathe them more often that that!) but certainly not for a breed such as a Yorkie! As long as you use a quality mild shampoo/conditioner and rinse real good, you are not going to strip oils, dry the skin, or ruin the coat..that is such out dated information!

Of course you can blow dry him! I blow dry my shih-tzu. He may be afraid of it at first, but he should get used to it eventually. Don't aim the hair dryer directly at his skin, keep the end at least 8 inches away from him, keep it on low heat and low power, and if theres a "cool" button on your hair dryer, use it! You can also use heating pads (on the lowest setting) in his bed so he has a warm place to lay while he's drying, if he doesn't tolerate the hair dryer.

Good luck and give him kisses for me!

You should only bathe your dog a few times a YEAR unless they go out and get filthy if you bathe them more often you cause them to lose the oils on their skin so their skin dries out. After you bathe him as long as you keep the hair dryer on low and don't put it too close to him and keep it in the same spot he should be fine. Most dogs don't like this in general because it scares them because of the noise. You can wrap him up in a towel and dry him that way.

Sure it is ok to blowdry your Yorkie after a bath,as otherwise they get cold easy.Just use a warm setting.I have two Yorkies and do it every bath, otherwise they will catch the sniffles.

we have eight dogs that are chaquaqua/fiest, chaquaqua/dauchsand and jack/rats ........ wash them with puppy shampoo (which generaly has moisturizers) and blowdry them each week.......they love this time to be pampered

helps keep them clean, healthy and loved

just be mindful that it does get quite hot as you should know from blowdrying human hair .... so do not hold too closely - does not take long to dry the pets hair but their skin and pads are vulnerable when dryer is held too closely to that area

use same cautions as you would with a child or yourself

You can blow dry him, just be careful not to burn his skin. I would leave it a little wet, like he said. You could towel dry him, but that is not nearly as effective.

sure they blow dry them at grooming salons, BUT, the heat is minimal...with high pressure wide hose air, they dry really fast. I used to groom

i would recommend it for a small dog like a yorkie, since it is getting colder. make sure the blowdryer is set to low or warm, and be sure to move it around so you dont burn his skin

Dry him well with a towel first, and then blow dry.

yes blow drying him (on LOW heat setting) will not only keep him from being cold, but also fluff up his coat, and keep it from tangling. for grooming products, and all kinds of goodies try www.petedge.com
