Tonite on my way home from school, I hit a dog. The highway is super dark at night. Anyway, I tried to swerve and slammed on my brakes, but the road was wet, so i was sliding along , and the dog turned around and ran into the path of my truck. I freaked out. I don't think that I killed him, but I was too scared to stop, because the road is kinda spooky, and anyway, I went to a store about a mile away, and some men said that they would go check on him for me, and bring him to me if he was hurt. They came back and said that he was not there, and that they didn't see blood or anything, so I'm kinda relieved that he's not dead, but I'm worried that he is hurt somewhere suffering. Why don't people keep their animals safe? I know that sometimes they can escape, but one of the guys that went to check for me said he sees that dog on the highway all of the time. I feel so bad. What else could I have done? Or can I do anything about it now?

After a lot of research my husband and I just got a german shepherd purebred puppy. We equally take part in training, feeding, playing with the puppy. She is now 11 weeks old. However, she follows my husband around everywhere! I feel as if she does not like me, or does not pay attention to me. I am trying to position myself as the alpha leader but she still comes to my husband when he calls her, still has all eyes on him, etc. We have not been able to take her on walks since she is not 16 weeks old yet and can catch parvo. Do you think her position with me will change once I can take her on walks? My husband does not exercise and I will be the one walking her twice a day. What do you think?

My roommate has a 8 month shepard mix dog and she keeps pooping on the beds in our house! She has pooped on one roommates bed once and anothers twice. Today she pooped on a futon. She is left alone most of the day because we are all college students and her owner is never around and refuses to get rid of her....So does anyone know why she does it or some advice to stop it short of getting rid of the dog.

Earlier this evening, I noticed that my dog's tail acted limp. For example, it moved in a choppy motion, not in its normal flowing motion. Is this something I should really be concerned with? What should I do?

I Have two dogs; in the last 6 months one of the dogs refuses to walk with my husband. My husband walks fast and typically will walk the dogs 3-5 miles. We have been doing this for a couple of years. I on the otherhand, don't walk as fast and I usually take the dogs for 2 miles. My husband walks the dogs on a tight leash where I walk them on flexible, longer leashes. I let the dogs sniff and explore. Obviously the dog prefers my style (right or wrong), the issue is both my husband and I are not flexible with changing our own way of walking the dogs. I know the obvious answer is that we have to be consistent, and/or need to only let him out when and if he goes with my husband. For obvious reasons, we really don't want to do that. The dog is 7 years old, healthy and really does love to walk so it isn't an issue with his age or ability to do longer, faster paced walks. Can anyone give me advise on how to beat handle this issue. (Serious answers only!) Thank you in advance for your help

Is this too long? any suggestions? I can't leave to home for lunch. I will be gone the full 8 hrs. Don't have a friend to let him out. HELP> Poor little guy. :(

I want to start a business where I walk, feed, refill water bowls, and give a little affection and attention to people's dogs for them for (maybe) an hour while they are at work. The only problem is I don't know how much to charge. Does anyone have any suggestions?

He is a large lab/rot mix, fixed, but got stuck today in our in-heat female pit-bull terrier. He started sleeping outside three nights ago, instead of a human-warmed bed he usually sleeps in.

I have an 8 week old mini beagle puppy. He's at the chewing stage right now (especially on my hands and feet) and I bought some rawhide chew sticks for him. I'm afraid though that he will choke on them. I gave him one for a little bit and he loved it but I took it away for the fear it would get caught in his throat or make him sick. Any advice?

I live in South Carolina where it gets pretty hot during the summer. I really want a dog and have been looking at Siberian Huskies for a long time. If I get one, I will get a female. She will be kept outside unleashed. I live on a farm on a dirtroad and there is lots of room.
