A German Shepherds ears can start standing up as early as 8 weeks old. Usually by 3 months old they are pretty much up. You may have splint them. The best person to help with this would be your vet. Please do not attempt a splinting for the first time on your own.

Ears can stand up at any time - or not! You may see some up-down during teething. If you have any doubts that the leather is heavy, you can glue them for support. Get some Tear Mender (around here it's only available from Tractor Supply) but it's meant for leather/fabric and is non-toxic. Simply set a line of glue on the inside edge of each ear and glue together ... what you're really doing is glueing hair to hair. Yes, they look like coneheads for a while, but the glue will wear off by itself and this helps support the ears while they are growing. Generally you'll not need to glue after 6 mos. but each time the glue wears off, check again and see how they stand. Good Luck!

mine GS ears stood up around 2 1/2 mo. It all depends on the german shepherd, some have ears that dont flop at all when running, flop at the tip, or stay down. Mine girls ears flop at the top but stand.

Usually between 3 and 7 months, although some pups have "lazy ears" that flop over and may need to be splinted and taped to get them to stand. If you're not going to show your dog, though,it shouldn't matter if they stand or not.But most pup's ears are standing nicely by the time they are a year old.
