Dogs - September 2006

Does anyone know about dog nursing problems? My dog had 3 puppies on 9/2. Her back teets seem to be extra swollen and the puppies will not nurse on those. Is there concern? A way to relieve this? I would prefer a home remedy..I don't have much in the way of funds right now to spend at the vet. thanks

My male yorkie is 2 years old and weighs about 5.6 pounds. I heard from a few other breeders that once you stud a yorkie out their personalities change. I love my dogs unique personality, but would love to make some cash on the side by studding him out. Does anyone know if this is true, will his personality change? He also is not fixed, but if I don't stud him then I want to get this done, will that also change his personality?

every time I brush my dog these little scabs every where come off and into his curry comb. does anyone know what this would be and what I could do about it. there is also a couple of pin point size bleeding spots that I noticed when I looked through his hair after brushing him. He has been itching alot, I dont see any fleas! I dont know if it could be what Im bathing him with . What I had used was a 1 part mixture of baking soda, peroxide and dish soap. I used this mixture because my dog had rolled in some type of animal feces. Any ways the dish soap was sunlight and he had been bathed in a period of 3 weeks . He was bathed 3 times. He has never had this problem before. Help please. thanks!

WE have done all the stuff they told us to do .....Including the vet deal ....the super cleaning of the house...... then the washing of the rugs... then we shaved the dog half way.... lit his hair on fire then as the fleas came out we stabbed them with an ice pick.........Just kidding.... any more suggestions ...really would apreciate it..............Mr. Ben DOVER....TANKS

my five month old pup has had diarrhoea with straining for about 4 days now, hes been constantly drooling from one side of his mouth & his chin, chest & legs are soaking in drool (its more like water than drool). ive had him up at the vet today & she gave him a painkiller & antibiotics, he also has a sore ear which she gave me drops for but hes just not himself, ive been wearing bibs on him for the past two days to try & stop his coat getting soaked because his poor skin is red, ive also tried to put some antiseptic cream on his neck to sooth the reddness & i keep towel drying him. the vet advised me to give him the antibiotics & if it seems to be helping then bring him up for a checkup on friday but if not then bring him up before that for a better examination, she also told me not to give him his normal kibble but feed him chicken, scrambled egg & pasta or brown rice. im pretty sure he hasnt ate anything he shouldnt because im carefull that way, any ideas what this could be?? ; (

I just bought my shih tzu. I was told she had a litter in April, and just went thru a heat a couple of weeks ago. My question is, I have noticed her nipples are very large, she seems to have a pot belly, unlike my other shih tzu...and she sleeps constantly. Would she still have enlarged nipples so long after the last litter, or could she be pregnant again? She is going to the vet next week, but I cant stand not knowing!!!

I had lab dog come to my home in middle of july the last week or so she is getting milk in her teats but not gaining much weight. is the normal for this breed? i have never been around a lab tell she came into my life. any help would be great thanks. pam
