Cats - August 2006

ive had this kitten now for about a month and he's adjusted very well. Before the kitten i had a hamster, and since we've had the kitten ive kept the hamster locked up in a room worried the cat will get to him. The room has no venilation (except for a small desk fan i put in) and he now gets no attention since i forget he's locked up. Id like to bring him back out but im worried about the cat will knock the cage over and the hamster get loose. He was ontop of the TV but that was too highup for my comfort...i was thinking about a smaller cage and then putting him ontop of the bookcase...and ideas?

my boy cats sprayed my place they should stop it i don't know why they do this i am a clean freak i want my cats to understand i want my place kept clean i can't afford to have them fixed and it is the other persons responsibility to have their cats fixed not mine

I put my dog's invisible fence collar on my neighbors cat so it would come in our yard anymore. There problem is the stupid cat ran into my yard (got shocked) and will not leave my yard.

My dogs will need to go out to the bathroom on about an hour and will kill the cat. I don't want my dogs to go in the house so what else is there to do but let them outside?

my cat is very ill and i think she knew that she was dying, because for the past 2-3weeks she was going into places where she had never gone before. and she was 8 pounds (thats her normal weight) which the vet said was healthy for her. and when she hid in our basement for 3 days, she only drank her water. she has kidney problems and when we got her out yesterday we couldnt even give her a treat. i mean she couldnt chew it she didnt have the energy. we didnt have to get out her cat carrier to bring her to a vet. we just put her in a towel and held her. and she normally squirms. we all said good bye to her and she even allowed my dog to give her a little kiss on the nose. she has to be on an i.v. drip for 2 days, and i was wondering if anyone had any encouraging words for me to tell her or something. i am at the vet right now with her so if you could help my family get through this hard time. she is 13 and that means that she is 70 in cat years. thanks and good bye.

i know alot may think this is cruel, but my cat HAS to STAY OFF of the windows...in our apartment complex no one is suppost to have cats, dogs, etc. But alot of people have been "pardoned" including us. The only stipulation is the animals cannot be on the windows so that others dont see and complain. Now we dont have window-sills so when the windows are closed its no problem, we let him on the windows when they are open at night...any ideas on how to keep him off?? I know its natural but any ideas??

I have a teenage cat named max, he often LOVES to poop or pee on the carpet, in the bathroom, in the bedrooms etc. He does use his litter box but sometimes he just feels the need to "go" other places in the house and covers it up!! Its driving me crazy! What should I do?? Cats are suppose to be clean animals...Right? And is there any suggestions as to how to get rid of the bad smell left behind on the carpet and floors??

I have just bought a ragdoll kitten and am 99.9% sure that he is deaf as we have been doing a lot of building work on our house and he doesn't even look when drills are being used two feet away from him. He also doesn't look or even twitch his ears when we put the vacuum cleaner above his head and turn it on full power! How will this affect his life long term?

I have two cats aged 3 years and they rarely seem to be satisfied with their food. I feed them two big cans of Whiskas a day in two meals, which is what the can suggests, but if their bowl is empty they are not happy. They are wormed and vet checked regularly and all is well health wise, in fact the vet said they are a little overweight. What is their problem?

I have two completely indoor cats who are 2 years in age. They are out of control at night when it comes to clawing everything in my house. We just rescued three stray kitten babies yesterday and noticed today they had a few fleas. We bathed them and picked out the fleas (5 total) even though I'm guessing they are more. We have a dog (who is on Frontline) so I'm not too worried about him. We threw out the blankets that we had given to the kittens, gave them a new box and new pillow...all that.

How likely is it that any of the fleas are on me and/or my boyfriend? I have long hair (but always tie it up) so I'm kinda freaking out here. Just the thought of fleas makes me itchy so I can't go by that theory...lol....We're just freaking out a bit.

Also, any suggestions how long will it take to get rid of all the fleas? Do you think we got rid of them all (I know this is probably wishful thinking)!

Please help! We're dog people, but we just had to take them in to protect and care for them.
