What do you mean by "the usual cannels"?
Anyway, my suggestion would be to ask around your friends (that's how I got mine - the cat of a freind's father had had a litter of two, and as my friend already has a dog and a cat, they were looking for a home of one of the kittens); local shelters... Go to a vet / vet supply store, there may be some post-its with ads from people who are looking for homes for cats. I know there is such a board at my vet's office. Ask a vet.
There are plenty of ways of getting a cat. Including just picking up a kitten off the street (would recommend a bath and a quick visit to the vet, first thing, in that case, but it's an option).

The usual channels? You make it sound like a commodity rather than a living thing. What "normal channels" do you mean? There are places where you can get rescued cats and kittens.

From a kitty- e-cat shop. Or the cats protection league. There are always looking for homes for wee kittens. You may be tempted to have two once you have seen them. Anyway two is company especially in a cats world.

Check with your local cat rescue groups , they have many wonderful cats and kittens just begging for a new home! and in turn you are saving the life of an animal :)

your local spca , newspaper, some pet stores adopt out . I got my cat there and she is one of a kind I enjoy her company. My daughter found her cat sadly someone just dumped him before he was even weened. Both are a joy. If you can get a paper called thrifty nickle it's free and they have a good amount of pets in there. If you go to a pet store there should be a bulliten board look on there. Good luck in your search !!!!

Try looking on Internet sites, local newspapers, adverts in shop windows, phoning cat rescues, supermarket notice boards.
Here are a few websites to look on:
www.freeads.co.uk
www.classifieds.co.uk
www.preloved.co.uk
My sister breeds Bengals and Snowshoes and these are where she advertises them.

Hi there...consider Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org). It's a free online classified. Choose your state/city and then under the Community section select Pets
