my cat is very ill and i think she knew that she was dying, because for the past 2-3weeks she was going into places where she had never gone before. and she was 8 pounds (thats her normal weight) which the vet said was healthy for her. and when she hid in our basement for 3 days, she only drank her water. she has kidney problems and when we got her out yesterday we couldnt even give her a treat. i mean she couldnt chew it she didnt have the energy. we didnt have to get out her cat carrier to bring her to a vet. we just put her in a towel and held her. and she normally squirms. we all said good bye to her and she even allowed my dog to give her a little kiss on the nose. she has to be on an i.v. drip for 2 days, and i was wondering if anyone had any encouraging words for me to tell her or something. i am at the vet right now with her so if you could help my family get through this hard time. she is 13 and that means that she is 70 in cat years. thanks and good bye.

it totally sux. pets becum part of the family and even though they're "just animals" we still luv em. but fortunately, unlike humans, we can get another pet to help with the pain of losing our friend. i've lost many dogs throughout the years, and not one cud replace the lost one, but it's coo how the new one brings the same joy.
dont dwell on ur sick cats present state, it'll just make u sadder. make sure she stays comfortable and i know its hard, but b prepared to make a decision to let her go with dignity and comfort. than get another pet and give em all the love u wuda given this cat.
good luck.

It is very sad and hurts a lot when our pets are ill and near death. I have gotten more pets right after I have lost one...and I have lost 4 in my entire life. I have an older cat that was very very ill about one year ago, and suprisingly, she did very well and is still with us. I have a dog that is 16 years old and during the holidays she was very ill and we thought we would lose her then, but after the vet got her on some meds and treatment, she is still running around our yard. It is very painful to lose a pet, but you will always keep her in your heart and if you are like me, give another stray pet a home by taking into your home. IF there is a probability she will come home with you then don't be so sad..cats are amazing; but, if the vet told you things aren't so good, then just keep her from any pain and you will know when it is time for her to go, she will let you know. I never forget my pets that have died, in fact, I sometimes see them in the new ones I have. I pray she will be ok.

I am so sad for you. Losing a pet is very hard. I lost a pet I had for more than 10 years. I remember crying and my little 4 year old nephew said to me. Well now baby Dustin has someone to play with. Baby Dustin was his big brother, a brother he never knew, my first nephew that died at the age of 27 months. In that moment he said that to me I knew he was right, now my little nephew had a new playmate.
Life is a big circle, and you cat will find her place in this world with you or in the next awaiting your arrival. In the meantime, know she will have a purpose no matter where she ends up.
Tell he how much she has meant to you, and how you lucky you were to have her no matter the time. You give yourself time and you will no longer hurt, but be comforted by the good memories you have had. If she ends up living, she will know how much you loved her because you were there during those hard hours.

My heart breaks for you. I have had 2 cats die in the past month. And although I still have several others, they are all different in their own ways, I still love and miss the ones that are gone. The only consulation is that we can help end their suffering when we cannot help them regain their health. I had to have 1 of the 2 put to sleep. It was one of the hardest things I've had to do. But he knew that I loved him and I really think he was thankful that I had the courage to do it, because I loved him. He no longer hurts or feels bad. And I asked him to watch for me someday when it's my time to go 'cause I hope to see him and all my other 4-legged babies again. May God be with you and your family. And don't give up on loving another one again. There are so many out there who need you and your families love and care the way he did at one time. And you may be their only hope at a happy life.

This is very sad. It reminds me of when i had cats or dogs that died. SOmetimes they do go and try to hide somewhere because they know they are going to pass away. Kidney failure is pretty common when cats are old. Very rairly do they bounce back. My last cat that died lived for 14 years. I have one now that is a fire point siamese. I know how hard this can be. I have had to deal with this before. It is hard to let them go, but you have to realise she wont be in pain anymore. She will be in heaven. And there she will have no worries. You should celebrate the life that she had and all the joy she gave to your family. She knows how much you love her and is probably thankful that she was saved by your family. when she does, if she hasn't pass on, remember that you will always have her in your hearts and one day you will meet again. Good luck and God Bless

we had a cat for 18 years. she was wonderfulo. but she got old and died. we finally put her down becuase she was suffering.
it sounds like shes lived a long wonderful life. she loves u and will hold on as long as she can, even if shes in pain. maybe u should consider helping them move on. its sad but that way theres no pain or suffering. she isnt going to get better so maybe u shouldnt prolong it anymore than u should. a cat will hold on for a long time at of love. i believe that the body is nothing more than a shell, or clothing. the true being is the energy inside it. so when she moves on, she'll be okay. her spirit will start a new journy. u've done all u can for her and shes been happy. thats the best anyone can do for their cat.
tell her its okay, u wont be mad if she moves on. tell her shes been happy and that u love her as much as she loves u. shes had good time together and that u hope her next journy is as happy and fuullfilling as this one has been.
i know its hard and its okay to be sad. i wish u the best. u could alwasy plant a plant or tree or paint a rock and put it in a garden or the yard as remeberance.

My cat is 15 in human years and holding on. Her health has definitiely had its ups and downs throughout the years but after having her for 15 years, I know that when she does pass, I will accept it since she lived such a good life. Hopefully you feel the same, it makes the situation a lot easier. Ive dealt with the death of a pet before, and while its not easy, or painless just rememeber how great of a pet they were.

She will come back to you in some shape or form. Like if a stray cat appears on your porch awhile after you cat passed it could be her reincarnated. My dog passed away and 2 months later a stray pregnant cat was on the door step so we kept her and they act just the same.

Yes, and losing a beloved pet is like losing a member of your family..extremely hard to let them go..
but please understand that your kitty may be holding on because she knows you aren't giving her permission to cross over to kitty heaven, even though she's ready. Hard as it will be, tell her she can go when she's ready..I'm sure you don't want her to suffer anymore.
There is a beautiful tribute to our pets called "Rainbow Bridge". Just type that in on-line and read it..I think it will give you much comfort. It certainly helped me - and I look forward to seeing all my beloved pets who wait for me.
Also remember that her spirit will live close to you..when you see things that remind you of her, that WILL be her spirit telling you she loves you and that's she still there with you. Someday, when you are ready, I also believe she will know when you are ready, she will send you another kitty to love and take care of.
