I have a Yorkshire Terrier about 6 months old. Lately, he has not been eating anything. I am not sure if it has to do with his teeth, his teeth are falling out and of course his new ones will grow back but can this be the reason?

My dog died on Monday, 12/3, right in front of me. She was only about 5-6 yo, and we only had her for a year. We adopted her last year (from a rescue) in November, and she was healthy, but had a heart murmur. Then about 3 months ago, she was diagnosed with heart disease. The doctor said she had advance heart failure, and to let us know she could go at any moment. The thing is, she was close to my mom, but the morning she died, she wanted in my room and onto my bed. Then she walked up to my pillow, and cuddled around my head. She had never done that before, and it was heartbreaking. A few minutes later, she struggled to breath and started coughing up blood. My mom was going to take her to the vet that morninh because she was worried about her breathing the previous night. They opened at 7:00A.M and she passed away at 6:30A.M. The thing is, even if we did take her to an emergency vet, they wouldn’t have been to save her because once a dog is about to have heart failure, there no way you can help them. I just feel horrible that all we could do was comfort her for her last minutes, telling her how much we loved her for the year we had her, and holding onto her. There was nothing else to do. The worst part is, our 16yo shih tzu died from old age last year, then we got our new dog, and she passed away this year. Its so soon for another heartbreaking time. Well, we all are doing better but I still have the emptiness and sadiness in me. We are thinking about either going to a shelter, or the same rescue group we got her at, getting another dog after the holidays. Hopefully it will fill the hole in our hearts. Also, my mom really loves the shih tzu and lhasa apso’s (fluffy breeds). What dogs are friendly, not big, and don’t shed a lot. This is for the future when we are goin to adopt another dog. Thanks everyone.

I have 3 rabbits, 2 Harlequins and a rabbit that we dont know his breed. The 2 Harlequins are does, and the brown rabbit is a buck. When I got them about 2 months back, they only ate a half a can(Size of a reg. corn can) of food and it would last them all day and night. Strangly Orihime(One of the does) has begun finishing all of that before i return home from school while Marguerit(Other doe) still eats the same amount. The buck is my sisters and he stll eats the amount she gives him. They all live in one big outside hutch that is seperated into 3 parts, and they each have their own that they cant get out of. She cant be pregnant, as she hasnt been in any contact with the buck since 5-6 weeks ago when she found an escape route to his hutch. Unless they where together again when I nor my mum knew. Why do you think she is eating so much now?

I got a rat from Petco. Everyone says you should get it from a breeder but I don't know any. The conditions where good there and the cage was clean she hasn't had any problems yet but I was thinking about getting another one from Petco.
Should I?

Okay guys and gals, this is absolutely ridiculous, I'm reminded of Middle School by some of the ways people are treating others on this site!
Here's the deal:
Everyone needs to stop bashing everyone else.
If you have a problem with something someone says, don't take the bait! Don't lower yourself to their level.
Let's raise the standards of what this section of Yahoo! Answers has become.
After all, people come here for advice (most of the time), and want genuine help. So what if they're a beginner? We all were at some point or another. So what if you think their question is stupid?
If you don't have anything nice/constructive to say, don't say anything at all!
I know those 2 points are nice to get, but what's the point if you're going to get thumbs-down and other people pissed at you?
So please, play nice, and make this website was it was meant to be: an honest place to ask questions and receive honest answers.
I'm not looking to elicit negative reactions from you all, be nice.

We purchased a Golden Retriever puppy about 3 months ago and it's taken some time for the Schnoodle to get used to it. The retriever with a lot of energy chases the Schnoodle around causing both to show their teeth to each other. Recently my wife was eating dinner and the Schnoodle stole a piece of bread off the table. When my wife yelled at her by pointing at her, this normally gentle Schnoodle showed her teeth to my wife. This has never happened before. As I mentioned she has always been very gentle. What gives?

I have a 3 1/2 month old, male Min Pin puppy that I've had for about 5 days now (my first pet dog). He's housebroken for the most part, the previous owner taught him to use wee-wee pads and I'm also trying to teach him to go outside. I've enrolled him (and myself) in a dog training class which we've been to once so far. I've been using the "clicker" method with him as that is what the trainer is using and I've heard good things about it.

But, he is stubborn. I've been doing a lot of reading which says always use positive reinforcement and no yelling, punishment, etc. The things I've read also say to be strict and firm with him so he doesn't only obey you half the time. Well, he does do what he's told about half the time, mostly when he knows I have a treat for him. How can I be firm and correct him when he does not follow a command. For example, he knows sit. When he knows I have a treat, he will sit on command. If I don't have a treat, he only sits when he wants to.

My dog is VERY friendly and loves people. But when I have company in my house, she gets very excited and hyper and jumps from couch to couch, runs up and down the hallway and won't stop if I tell her to! I don't know how to get her to stop! :(

My neighbors are telling me that my Westie is the father of their dogs litter, but he would've only been nine or ten months old when the deed was suposidly done? Does any one know at what age male Westies are able to impregnate, or perhaps a site that would have this information?
Thanks in advance.

I have two male kittens around 6 months. They get along very well, play like crazy, groom each other, and sleep with each other (in my bed). I was planning to neuter one of them. The other one is pure bred siamese and I want to breed him with my friend's siamese. I have homes for all the future kittens. I just want to know if the two boys will be able to still get along with each other when one is neutered and one is not.

My lab is 12 1/2 years old. (10-12 yrs life expectancy) I have had her since she was 4 weeks old. (she was found in a field with ants covered in her, we adopted her & bottle nursed her) She is up 2 date on her shots, heartworm medication, & doesnt have any health issues. She doesnt even act like shes 12 1/2. She acts just as if she was still 5-6.
Well tonight she has been acting VERY strange, (for her).
I could tell her to sit and stay and she would stay all day if I didn't tell her to move. She minds PERFECTLY.

Well tonight she wont come in from outside and is hiding behind the shed and wont come for anything. (Once again, she has never not came when we told her to) Our past dogs have done this when they were fixing to die.
she is panting heavily (spayed too.)
And is just laying there and doesnt want to do anything,
She isnt sick (diaharea or vomiting)

She knows we dont like her to jump on us and she was earlier, like visiting w. us.
What do think? am I over-reacting?

this is driving me crazy:) i wanna know if anyone has experienced this with their dog...i have a lovely chihuahua but ive noticed lately when he is sleeping he twitches, eyes blink, ears move, etc (which i understand is probably dreams) but along with that now, his throat area moves rapidly. the other day he was curled in a position where i couldnt see his mouth but last night he did it again and i happened to see during the "twitching" that his tongue was about 1/4 sticking out and he was kind of suckling REAL hard on his tongue. it freaked me out! he did not stop until i called his name and of course he woke up. it scared me because i thought he was having a seizure or something. ive never seen this before...have you?

My dog 80 lbs Bullmastiff came face to face with a Coyote this am in our yard for the second time, the first time being a couple of months ago. When I came out of the house it ran away and I grabbed my dog as she was going after it. I worry that now that it knows there is a possible food source for it, it will return to come after my dog.
I know that coyote's kill for a living, so though my dog is tough she would lose. This coyote was taller than her and healthy and if hungary enough will go after her. What should I do? She has to go outside! Help!
PS Coyote's are protected by law.
