it may look like they are hiding their pain...but if you are around animals long enough, you begin to understand some of their "language"
signs of pain;
dilated pupils, and the white membrane in the corner of the eye will slide out towards the pupil...the further out the more pain.
how does ur cat act that is different than before? does he seem sensitive and flinch when you touch his jaw? does he growl when you hold him? does his ears lay back or his tail jerk? when he eats does some of his food fall out of his mouth? does he prefer soft food? has he been drinking more than eating? all these things would point to a tooth infection. being an outdoor cat, he may well have gotten something lodged in his mouth like a small bone from a bird or mouse.

Just because he doesn't look or act like he is in any pain, doesn't mean that he's not. Yes the vet is expensive but you should not own an animal if you cant take care of it. You would want your sore tooth taken care of if it were the other way around. Animals don't hide pain they are very tolerant until they cant take it anymore.

Yes, they will.

Most Animals will hide their pain because in the wild they would be easier prey for predators so they hide it. And yes, just because it is an indoor Cat doesn't mean it won't hide it. It is their instinct to hide it.

Take him to the Vet. I am sure he's in pain.

Yes, they hide their pain. It doesn't make the pain go away at all, so you do have to be aware of their condition.

Acting normal is what they do, but if there is something wrong, you have to have a vet help you fix it.
