i have a soft coated wheaten terrier...about 24 lbs i think and 4 years old and was born on thanksgiving =).He is the most gentle dog i know, he loves to be around people and hates to be alone, hes actually kind of a wuss especially during thunderstorms or if he hears any loud noises at all. But if you're sad or sick...or have food...he comes over and lays his head onyour lap and makes you feel better. I'd really like him to be a therapy dog and think that he'd be good at it. What are all of the necessary steps needed for him to become a therapy dog?

I just got an 8 week old puppy. He weighs about 7 pounds. I saw that Revolution offers a product for "Puppys and Kittens" (an all-in-one). Is this safe? Is it too early to start my puppy on Revolution? My cat is on Revolution too... but I'd like to get my new puppy on it as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 18 week old puppy, we go for a walk every evening at a community park. The dog always have a leash on, there's always bunch of children who want to pet the dog. My dog get too excited after seeing so many action, he'll either jump up or niping, even though to me his nips are gentle and I know all puppies does that from time to time. These children, typically little girls will start calling out that the dog is "biting". I usually pull my dog away, they're usually the same group of children and I know their parents, would it be rude of me to tell them off?

We had her out for a while today (her longest time so far) and when we put her back, her legs were shaking. Could it be she's cold? She's about six months old, and seems fine otherwise. She gets plenty of calcium, so I don't think that's the issue. She seems alert and is able to move around fine. She's been eating well. Any ideas? I'm worried!

I have heard that a male betta will start making a bubble nest if he has a female betta on the other side of a divider that he can see, but why is he building his nest in his little 2.5 gallon?
I have never had a female and he has never seen one in my house, so why build the nest? It doesn't really bother me, I'm just kinda wondering.

I have a 3 year old Queensland that I adopted from the SPCA almost a year ago. He had to be neutered before we were able to take him home.
My brother has a Chihuahua mix that has not been altered. She was in the same fence with him while she was "in heat" because we didn't expect him to be able to impregnate her. He did "try" several times, but we never saw them "tied" (although it is possible since we weren't watching them all the time).
She ended up pregnant somehow, we assumed it was from our unaltered chihuahua male. But the puppies look a lot like Queenslands. Here are a few pictures of them.

My feamle I have since March 2004 and I brought my new male pup home in 2005 once they got used to each other my female would let my male climb on her just like her own pup would and he even tried to get milk from her but I pulled him away because she was not a mom. But she would always let him climb on her and they would play.

Here are pictures of them 2 when my male was a pup.

This woman lives in my neighbourhood and I come across her often in our municipal dog park. She has a female Shetland that she bread once and all the puppies died. A month ago she got her own Shetland male who's about 12 weeks old now and she wants to breed her female again next year with that male. Her female is a sweet dog but she is too small, too delicate and her nose too narrow to be a good representation of the breed. Each time she talks to me I feel the urge of telling her how she doesn't know what she is doing in so many department....specially when she was bringing along the 9 week old male to the dog park with her!

I do NOT regret buying our Mini-Dachshund pup from a 'Hobby Breeder' who is very responsible. She is a Vet Tech, so has the vet at hand if she needs one and has all the pups vaccinated, dewormed and checked out before sending them on to their new homes. They are also raised indoors with people! We weren't able/didn't want to pay for a AKC champ pup-no reason just for a pet (but, her pups are AKC registerable).

We did (many years ago) buy from a BYB and got lucky! Our Golden rocks (she was 1 out of 17 pups from 2 bred sisters)! She's in perfect health and we just didn't know about BYB back then.

So, I know everyones thoughts on BYB's, but what about Hobby Breeders? This one certainly doesn't do it for the money-she does it because she enjoys it and to be able to give people affordable, quality pets. I've seen her house, her pets, etc. She's not a puppymill or the like.

Just wondering what ya'll think :)

I have a 130 lb dog and want to give him buffered aspirin for lameness. He may have slept wrong or he may be starting to develop some arthritis from age. I know it is safe to give buffered aspirin but am wondering how much to give. One a day? Two? I am using regular strength. Thanks.

My puppy is 4 months old. He is supposed to be a purebred dog, but I noticed that he has webbed toes. I know that water dogs such as labs have web toes, but I didn't think that pitbull did. Pitbulls don't even like the water. Does anyone know the right answer?
