No over the counter products work. And some products like hartz can be very dangerous for pets, especially cats. They seem to be more prone to severe reactions sometimes resulting in death. The only product that will work and are perfectly safe for your pet are the ones from the vet like advantage or frontline. You can also buy them in single doses which are only around $13. Some home product do work for killing the fleas, like dawn dish detergant, however they won't keep them from coming back in a few hours. So basically you would be waisting your time and its not good to bathe dogs and cats very often. I recommend picking up a dose of frontline for cats. Just remember not to bathe your cat 2-3days before of after applying it. It has to spread through the natural oils in the skin and if you give it a bath ir will strip those oils off meaning that it won't spread like it should.

Urrrrgh. You've tried the WORST products! What a waste of money - oh well, just be glad they didn't make your cat ill.
You need a flea treatment from a vet. You don't actually need to take the cat there, you can just pop in and buy some Frontline over the counter, it isn't prescription-only stuff.
I know veterinary flea treatments are more expensive, but when you consider the fact they're the only ones that work, they're actually much better value for money. Don't waste any more money buying store-bought rubbish, save it for Frontline!

Advantage or Frontline. I have not had success with regular store bought flea products. What I use is expensive but well worth the price of keeping fleas off the cats and that means out of the house as well.

Frontline is what most vets give to their clients, our recently went to ProMeris for the reason of an immunity build-up. Other than that use Seven on the yard, bath the pets in a 2 in 1 flea and tick shampoo, bomb the house (and expect to do it again), and use a 3 in 1 home spray around their bedding and what not.
Nothing is a quick fix, but you can put a huge dent in upfront, then just maintain on it.
BTW, Seven is bio-degradable, starts after the 1st rain, and isn't harmful to you or the pets!

Your best chance is to use revolution monthly. It works great. Flea baths dont kill the fleas. And make sure you keep up on the revolution or frontline or whatever you use. Also, make sure you put the flea medicine on the lower back if the animals head where they cannot reach and make sure you spread the fur so it gets on the skin.

In the past my cats have had fleas; and they too are indoor cats. I have found that a flea comb works very well I sit in the bathroom morning and night and comb them dropping the fleas in the toilet.Within a couple of days you will see no more fleas.

"Advantage works, the fleas are gone! Advantage works, the fleas are gone!" Please tell me I'm not the only one who seen the commercial with that song (a parody of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"). We only encountered fleas once, both of my cats are feral. We brought them home as kittens (one last year, one this year), and the one last year had fleas and we used Advantage. It worked well.

Call in at the vets ( you don't need to take the cat) and ask for Frontline. It's more expensive than the stuff at the petshop but it is safer and actually works
