she was at the vets 5 hrs ago tested positive for giardia. My family does NOT understand to be honest thats why i even asked this question here instead of just going back to the vets, because they'll trash all over me that i leave their thanksgiving to take my puppy to the vet. But if she has to go back then of course ill take her.

You can use Pepto or Immodium for dogs. Put her on a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice for the remainder of her antibiotics. This is very common, just keep her fed and hydrated and she'll get through it.

Check with the Vet again about the bloody appearance of the stool. Was your dog treated for hookworms, too? As far as diarrhea goes, when you are treating a dog for an illness, there are some natural treatments for the symptoms, like diarrhea, which can take awhile to go away. A very good natural treatment for diarrhea is Pumpkin Pie Filling- It's just plain pureed pumpkin in a can. You can get it at the grocery store on the baking aisle. Just make sure it's the kind without sugar and spices added.
When you get it, give your put a few heaping tablespoonfuls (or teaspoonfuls if tiny) of this. After each loose stool, repeat. It works really great and I got this remedy from a Vet.
Check this out with your Vet. You can also give your dog half water/ half pedialyte or straight pedialyte to start since she is likely dehydrated from all that diarrhea.
For sure check with the Vet again about the bloody stool. She made need some adjustment regarding her meds.

Dehydration is nothing to fool with, and you want to check your dog frequently for it. Just lift the loose skin at the scruff of the neck and then release it.. If the skin does not quickly return to normal and kind of just stays pinched up then there is a serious problem, and you are in over your head.

I never leave home without a fresh supply of Kopectate. Easiest way in the world to give a dog the squirts is to let it drink the water when away from home. (always take a full tank of fresh water from home too)

The vet should be consulted first. Be very careful the pup don't dehydrate! Just like human young, a pup can dehydrate VERY quickly. If the diarrhea continues once she is on the mend, feed steamed or boiled white rice. It won't take a lot & should cure the runs.

I would not fool around with any over the counter meds at all. There are some perscription meds that the vet can give you for this.
I would definetly call the vet and if you cant get them than I'd find a 24 hour vet. She needs help!

If her stool is bloody you should definitely get her taken to the vet. My dog had bloody stool and when I took her to the vet it ended up she had the parvovirus which almost killed her. I'm just glad I took her because the vet said we caught the virus in it's early stages and if we waited any longer her chances of surviving would have gone down. parvo is commonly found in puppies. I'm not saying your puppy has parvo..im just saying you should get her into the vet because it could be more serious than you think.

Call the vet and ask them. Never give your pet any sort of med without veterinary advice.

She may need to go back to the vet tonight as well, get off the net and call the vet.

give her some canned pumpkin, this will help thicken the stool up. You can also give her some pedialite so she doesn't get dehydrated. If the antibiotics don't help with in a few days she definitely needs to get back to the vet.

No human meds, just not safe. You can try a tablespoon of canned pumpkin to her food. Heard it works wonders, but the vet is the best person to ask, I'd start there first.
