I have 2 kittens that are currently 5 mo. 3 wks old. Both kittens have been teething for a few weeks now. We provide them with straws to chew on. They also like biting the edges of cardboard boxes. For about two weeks now, they have decided to gently bite our hands. We discourage this by telling them NO and pushing them away. We want to be sure that both the kitties don't confuse play fighting with each other and spending time with us. Is this just a stage of teething that will pass?

Also the first 2 months that we have had them, they have allowed me to check their paws and claws. They also allowed me to trim their claws without struggling at all. I have been trimming every 1-2 weeks. I usually trim their claws while they are grooming themselves. Could it be that they have finally noticed me trimming their claws? Now, they pull their paws away and bite us.

Why the changes?

I have 2 8-month old female cats. Both shed and they get on my shelves where I have folded clothes.
What's the best way to get the cat hair off clothes? Do I have to have them cleaned? Throw them out? Throw the cats out?

I was told not to bath my new pup. She is nw 12 weeks old. She got quit dirty today. She is a Dachshund, and has long hair, and today got her ears in her food, and now the tips are all dirty. Also we took her down to the park along with our other dog, and she ended up somehow gettin into sap, and she got it on her face.
I was told though, that it is not good to bath a young pup. I heard they get scared, and their knees lock up, is this true??

Can I give my pup a bath??
Or will it hurt her in the long run?
I know u need to have the water, not to warm or cold, like a baby's bottle, and have a warm towel ready for her... sometimes from the dryer since it's cold here, and sometimes blow dry her on low, and ONLY use puppy shampoo, and to be careful around the face, and let the water run down, not up... But are those the only precausions??

I have a 8 month girl cat. She does not go exploring outside, like in the grass. She goes on a covered porch. There is a shot that you can can give her so she does not get it, or something like that. I am wondering if the shot is worth it, if she needs it i will get it no problem, but the next time she goes is in Feb. when she gets the other shots. Will she get from another cat? Thanks

Hi everyone, the reason for my question is because I'm wondering if there's some kind of regulation laws with neighbor's pets. Everytime we go outside to the backyard we can't do anything because the dogs in the surroundings yards will go off barking as much as they can. I'm not talking about just one dog, its at least 3, and it really gets annoying. What i'm trying to say is, is there like a law that prohibits that kind of parade each time we go to our backyard? I don't have a problem with animals, I have a problem with the scandal that's caused.

I wouldn't think so, yet I see it all the time. It seems that a bump or a swerve could cause the dog to fall out, especially going down the highway at 80 mph.

Are there any unenforced laws currently on the books, or is there really not that much a danger?

So my wife and I got our first puppy 2 days ago. She's never owned a dog and I've had 2 growing up. But the dogs I've owned have never been puppies... so this is a first time training all the basics for me :)

We're currious about the whining/howling she does and if we should allow it or not (and if not, steps we can take to properly train her to stop.

We keep her on a leash around the house since we want he to understand we're in control and we also have a cat (so the leash can help us introduce to two to one another and make sure she doesn't chase the cat). I work from home so she's next to me most of the day until my wife comes home.

Now, she howls and cries at night when we put her in the bathroom. The bathroom has her toys, potty mat, and a blanket for her. She'll howl/cry from anywhere from 10-30 minutes until she falls asleep. She'll also howl/cry if we tie the leash off and she can't reach us.

Is this ok? And if not, what proper way's can we get her to stop the hehavior?

I would like to get my cat microchipped if he isn’t already. The problem is, I don’t know if he is or not. I got him from a shelter that no longer exists. I THINK they used to microchip all the dogs and cats they found homes for, but nothing was said about that when I adopted my cat. Here are my questions:

1) IF my cat does have a microchip, would that mean he is on file with a registry somewhere?
2) If I take him to a vet who has a scanner for microchips, would they be able to scan my cat and find out if/where he’s registered and what information is on file?
3) If he is registered somewhere, and the information about who owns him, address, etc., is incorrect, how can I get the information corrected!

I’ve read about a zillion webpages on microchipping pets, but no one ever seems to address questions like these!

I have three 3 week old kittens whose mother has been raising them well. I was wondering if there is anything that i need to do to help the weaning process, or if i should just let them do their thing.

I have a doggy door for my small chihuahua (Sharky) and my neighbor's cat, Brutus, keeps getting in. He has a habit of sneaking in and eating the mice we raise to feed our 12 boa constrictors. Brutus is twice the size of my Sharky - my dog hides from it because he keeps getting beaten up.

I was thinking about letting a few of the larger boas loose in the house to teach Brutus a lesson, but that would complicate things since my wife is raising "free-range" guinea pigs and I'm afraid the snakes would eat them.

What should I do?

I've seen several different products for toughening a dog's paw pads, and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for which product works best? We're going hiking on some rocky paths - we have boots for her, but she hates them so I'd prefer just to use them as a backup.

Hi! I have a great dane... he is 11 months. Periodically he limps... I took him to the vet and the vet looked him over and said it was basically growing pains. He gave me some pain pills and sent me on my way. My dog ended up staying with the vet for the weekend and the same thing happened... again the vet said, don't worry. Took no X-rays. Now my dog holds one of his back legs up, I give him a pill in an hour he seems better. Anyone have Danes and know if this is normal like my vet said? I'm worried about hip problems... are there signs I should be looking for? Thanks for any help you can give.

I overheard our neighbor's son say something about "prairie-dogging" on the bus, is that some form of animal abuse?

I don't want to notify authorities if it isn't, but as an animal lover I want to intervene if they're hurting animals.

Prairie dogs are SUCH cute creatures!

his food is everywhere and gets mixed in with his hay and pee.

I had a china proppa rabbit bowl and he smashed it.

someone said to get a plastic bowl and nail it down into his hutch so I did,... he only went and ripped the bowl off the floor and now the nails are gone
